Hiring Bid Experienced Bid: FAA-ATO-19-ATCEXP-60073

Is this the first or second list you've turned down?I'm just curious as to what locations you are looking for.

First. I applied to both the Dec and May bids with the mindset that if I didn’t like dec list I could just wait for Mays list but due to a mix of medical hang ups and a certain level of misguidance, I ended up having my offer for May rescinded.

MMU/HPN are tied for my number 1 choices (you’d think given their relative proximity to NYC, it wouldn’t be too highly sought after)

BHM an easy number 2 but being a level 8 and the criteria to receive 8+ seems to be nonexistent, unlikely regardless of my experience

LEX would be a solid contender for number 3 (was my number 2 slot on this last preference list)

Then from there it’s a crapshoot.

Anyone else heard anything as far as facility placement or a possible FOL time frame?
Did you get a list last week? A few of the guys on here got assigned a facility already and the FOL probably won’t come until you get closer to your start date. Did you get assigned a facility already?

Im in the May bid, got a question for you guys.

Im prior air force and about to do my physical and drug test next week. Do I bring my sealed medical records to the medical appointment? Do I have to mail them somewhere?

I brought my medical records just in case, but they didn’t ask for them. If you have VA disability then bring the documentation. (VA letter, compensation breakdown, etc.)

No claims or anything. I assume you got medically cleared just fine, no one ever asked for them?
I had everything cleared by 4/8/19 but wasn’t medically cleared until 7/10/19. The reasons were because they needed another copy of my VA docs because the AME didn’t ask for copies when I brought them in and showed them, the MMPI proctor misspelled my last name and the medical POCs couldn’t find my results in their system because of that, and a backlog in my region.

Nobody’s timelines will be the same. A lot had gotten lists by the beginning of May and every other week after that. Just stay on top of your POCs because if I hadn’t no one would’ve caught the spelling error in my MMPI test and I’d probably have to take the damn thing again.

Edit: and even though I was cleared on 7/10 they didn’t give me a list in the beginning of August because the group was too big and I got bumped to the next round. Supposedly August 21st.

I got RVS. Anyone with any information about the area or facility. Also, how does the transferring process go down the road? I know this is a little premature, already ready to go somewhere else, but I want somewhere with approach.

I PMd you

For those who already want to transfer from their new facility (before they even show up!), my advice: don’t go. If you hate the facility you were assigned I recommend turning down your offer. I took my facility and life happened, I quit. I’m in the May bid now and even though my medical was done and I was a FAA employee, I have to redo MMPI/medical. If I hadn’t taken the job and just denied my placement all that stuff would be good and I would be waiting for my new list now. Just my 2 cents.

According to the medical team, had I not accepted the offer I would not have to redo my medical clearances.

Technically you can try to transfer as a developmental but you'd be dead last as far as selections go, and as soon as your coworkers find out

The transfer process sucks right now. If you aren't happy with RVS, turn down the offer. Or take it live with it and plan on being there for a while chances are you may not be able to leave right after you certify.

Go to RVS, learn how to be a controller (you'll actually learn a ton at a 7 VFR tower, if they're still a 7), get CPC, file a hardship and yeet the heck outta there. They made this a dirty game so get dirty

Haha thanks for the advice, but I think I'm gonna try to stick around as long as possible. Looked into the area and Tulsa seems like a nice place. Better than where I'm currently at. Just excited to get started. Glass half full ya know.

Anyone get a list yet today or know someone who has? I’m constantly refreshing my email and this forum for any updates.. ?
