NCEPT going away?

I would say the pass rate is a poor indicator of whether a facility is hard or training is poor, maybe the time to certify would be a better option to indicate difficulty. The training success rate should be an indicator for the quality of training.

Source: Level 5 with a 71% pass rate in the books, but a 50% for the past couple years...
That's still not a great indicator. I've technically been in training since Jun of last year... Came from an 11 went to a 9. Checked out in the tower well below max hours but used more than what I would have liked but the supe "wanted me to see this and that"

Then after checking out in the tower I sat around waiting my turn for the etg lab which can go anywhere from 6 to 12 months. Then just because I came from the desert they automatically made the assumption all I know is how to run visuals and that I need a "solid ifr day" to prove I can run ILS's...

It's all garbage. Good luck finding a metric that can measure anything of use in this career field.

I agree with that, a universal metric is impossible. People going to up/downs because the delay for RTF is common knowledge.

The training manual has too much individual determination to it. Same thing with the OJTI process.
 
Whenever you feel like taking annual leave or a FAM trip to ATL, I’ll personally come pick you up from the airport, drive you to the facility, and you can monitor as long as you want. Then, YOU can help tell us what we are doing wrong as a facility, in regards to training.

Still, you’re missing the years of missed hiring goals and being short controllers in the NAS. The agency has sucked, at hiring, since literally Clinton was in office. That’s not an over exaggeration. That’s the truth. So your solution is to give trainees unlimited hours, SET every week, change training teams repeatedly, and then certify them at some point? What do you consider “giving them everything they need?” You don’t think doubling training hours, SET like it is Halloween night and we are handing out candy, ATMs overturning TRBs with unanimous determinations, agency audits stating that we are going above and beyond to try and help people be successful here, our former training union head helping national with training across the National because of how well we are trying to help people through training, et cetera isn’t indicative of us having a slight idea of what we are doing?!? It is COMPLETELY obvious that you don’t know what the fuck you are talking about when it comes to training at high volume, busy facilities!
I heard you guys have a guy/(girl?) there has been training for literally 4 years
 
I'm so glad I resigned in 2016, what a shitshow this has turned into. Now I get to watch this union eat itself while getting lv 12 pay for 9 traffic.

Transfers are going to grind to a damn near halt for the next year or two, probably longer
Where are you controlling now?
 
Where did I make fun of people who have “no chance” to transfer? Everyone is different, but those who have like 1 or 2 places they’re willing to go have to realize the reality and decide if they can be happy somewhere else than their “dream” facility or if the status quo can suffice. No one is owed their home facility. No one ever told us that or gave us any reason to believe that.

Ha. There are 18+ facilities in 9 different states where I’d be willing to go ... IF MY FACILITY COULD EVER RELEASE ANYONE! I’d say that most of us who got placed (and stuck) at these low level facilities are much more concerned with advancing our careers, in general, than trying to get to a specific location. But I agree with you, everyone is different.

Yup exactly this. My facility had 4 controllers become supes in the last 2 years

I used to think these people were insane, BUT after four years without a single release and loads of competition to look forward to when (and if) that day ever comes, trying for a supe job is starting to become appealing. Desperate times, desperate measures.

Interesting how sup pay was dropped a couple years before NCEPT and the national release policy. They started losing sups and not getting applicants, thus NCEPT! ?
