MMPI-2 Tier 2 Process

Also, when you say possession charge. Are we talking firearm, drugs, alcohol, what?

Say it was marijuana but you marked you’ve never used marijuana. Etc.

Oh it was Marijuana. And I’ve never smoked it. It wasn’t mine (how cliché) and it wasn’t in my possession at all. Long story short the DA dropped all charges. One of those wrong place, wrong group of friends situation. I had to explain in the reply email that none of the questions on the forms applied to me (while still providing the other paperwork of course).

Gotcha. Still, I would expect to have to provide a personal statement explaining it and all records.

Example, I had a curfew charge that was dismissed. However, two people that were in my car had alcohol. I had to explain in the statement I was asked to give them a ride as they couldn't drive. Had to go to court to go on record stating I didn't know about their charge and that I was only trying to help them out, etc.

It's not a big deal I wouldn't think. They just look at it all.

Has anyone had any luck contacting their state's representative to speed up the Tier 2 process?

I am from the 2017 bid.
Notified of Tier 2 in June 2018 (that's right.....my application has been stuck in T2 for 18 months)

I have had to sit back and watch dozens of people get cleared not only from the 2017 bid, but from the 2018 and 2019 bids as well. I'm over the "be patient emails".....assuming i get a response at all.

Can someone please point me in the right direction on who to contact and what to say?

I can't remember if you've even had your eval. If memory serves me right you eval'd in July 2019 and are still waiting.

To do a congressional inquiry you have to locate who your senate representative is for your voting district. Which you should be able to do without issue on google.

From there they should have a form you can fill out. Basically you explain the what (your situation being tier 2), when (timeline, when you did your eval to where you are now), why (being hired for ATC and needing a medical class 2 which required an evaluation) and then what you would like them to do.

Realistically, all they can do is inquire on your behalf to why it's taking so long. You can request them to ask for your case to be reviewed in a more timely fashion and I would ask them to provide you with an ETA on when yours will be reviewed.

Congress has no power in forcing the FAA to get this done any faster. I started my congressional inquiry fall of 2018 I believe. They've helped get ETAs and "why" for what is taking so long. But they can't change the timeline.

I did my eval November of 2019. FAA confirmed receipt of eval January 2020, about a week and a half ago. Last week they emailed congress saying my eval would be completed in 12-18 weeks. Though there isn't anything holding them to that as it's their process to do.

If you're military/prior service the "hurry up and wait" should be your mentality. Unfortunately, we're both stuck here from the 2017 bid.

Personally, I quit putting off my life and accepted another civilian job. Focusing on paying things off, saving money should I get approved for the FAA, etc.

My plan is still to work ATC obviously. Though waiting around for years like we have, they could still deny us. I just wouldn't make any big moves across country or anything.

Thanks a lot for the response!

I have not had my eval done yet lol. I have been >1.5 years out from being told i'm Tier 2 with still no psych appointment in sight. I can't even get a rough estimate out of my POC of when it would be. I have also sent in my driving record 3 ******* times.....which is by far the least of my worries lol. I'm just fed up with this process.

Same boat as you, unfortunately!

literally we are in the identical boat. Tier 2 from 2017, have not been contacted by hope, and have also sent my driving record to them numerous times. Quite comical if you ask me. It’s so discouraging seeing people from a bid 2 years after us already moving forward in the process and we are just stuck in no mans land over here.

Every time I email RDC I get the generic “you file is with hq waiting tier 2 coordination. We don’t not receive updates on their processes.” ?

Sent you a PM..
Can you pm me too lol

Not sure if you saw my earlier post, but re-apply for all the bids that you’re eligible for. I was hired on a prior experience bid and re-applied to one. Like I said in that previous post... It may have been coincidental, but it got things moving from a complete standstill and by “standstill”, I mean... I had not even been notified of a tier 2 when I re-applied, but got a notification of tier 2 and subsequent psych appointment shortly after re-applying.

Is there any chance re-applying to a bid would restart the process entirely? That is what I am afraid of.....

Zero chance! Anything that you already "cleared" like medical or security will be transferred to the new bid. They don't just make a while new file for Joe Shmo when they've already started one. That is literally the only "intelligent" thing I've seen from HR.

Did you have to accept the new TOL to push your mmpi shit along? Or was just applying enough? I already have a signed TOL as a direct hire to a facility. So I know where I'm going. Originally I applied for a bid + direct hire and got TOL offers for both. HR told me I needed to decide if I wanted to drop that direct hire TOL to pick up a new one. -- anyway just curious if you accepted the new TOL before you saw any progress.

So i received a "positive adjudication" in December 2019 after my security clearance interview in April 2019, which I've been told means I got my security clearance.

I am just waiting on getting this pscyh appointment. I just have that last step to go before hopefully receiving my medical clearance and then an FOL.

This is the last communication I have from RDC (1 week ago):

"Brian,

I have no idea why you have not been contacted, this file was sent to HQ on more than one occasion and nothing has been said. I emailed HQ again regarding your case. I see you added Hope on the email let’s see if the will reply as she normally won’t. I also emailed my boss to let him know.

You will get the tier II. Unfortunately we do not get updates on their process or status of any applicant."

If you apply for a new bid the only thing that would happen is all current progress, if you want to call it that, would be moved over to the new bid. All honesty unless you got a TOL for open bid and are trying to switch to a prior experience bid it's not worth the trouble. It won't speed or slow anything. I did it only cause I was in the N90 bid and switched to a regular prior experience. I was also tier 2 awaiting psych. None of my progress was lost, I was just given more choices of where I wanted to go instead of N90.

I got an e-mail from HR which made note that I had already applied and that they were processing my earlier application. Does not start everything over... From a prior experience to another prior experience bid anyways...

I did not have a TOL direct to a facility. Had a TOL from prior experience bid in 2017, but re-applying for another prior experience bid in 2019 “coincidentally” got me an e-mail from Hope (Tier 2 lead) initiating the tier 2 process and another from HR stating that they were aware that I was already hired and that they would process my application based on the older 2017 prior experience bid.

Since those e-mails In late OCT, I have taken the FAA directed psych evaluation (NOV). Now I am waiting for a “go” or “no-go” from the flight surgeon.

Is there any chance re-applying to a bid would restart the process entirely? That is what I am afraid of.....

And just to clarify, this was done on two separate prior experience bids, so not 100% sure what would happen if either application was for an “off the street” bid. However, if you’re stuck in tier 2 purgatory, why not apply for everything and clarify with the HR rep when the time comes?

Applying to any bid once you're in tier 2 does nothing. You have to go through the process, they won't issue another TOL.

Rightfully so.... imagine getting another TOL and not flagging for anything in the personality inventories.

(There is no pass/fail on MMPI)
