Failure to successfully complete the required training and evaluations will result in termination of your FAA employment and may not be selected for future Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) positions." Was in my FOL. Or is that not pertaining to basics but the actual ATC training?

To actually answer your question, it pertains to all of it. You must first pass basics, if you don’t you’ll be terminated. Then you must pass the option specific training.


Odds are this was all said and signed before the Corona virus. I’d double check with your HR POC to be sure.

If you fail training, its incredibly unlikely that you will get another chance. If you do fail basics, it is the "you're done, see ya later" scenario; you don't get another chance to retake the final test. But I'm not 100% certain if you are given another chance once you fail basics? You would have to reapply all over again, get rehired, and go through this process all over again.

Nothing yet, we had on boarding on the 16th and i havent heard anything since. I know for the 04/03 class date it took almost 2 weeks for them to get their iPads.

Edit: they just posted in 04/03, their virtual class starts 05/05 so we shouldnt be far behind them

So would they start getting paid of the 05/05?

I'm trying to see if I should quit at the same time I had planned or push it back a bit (I'm still scheduled for July)

I was told that you are put on payroll the day of onboarding. So if it takes a month to actually start online basics, you will be getting paid while you wait.

Yeah, I dont think you can even have a part-time job either. All she told me was that dual-employement was not allowed. I didnt ask for other specifics though

yep my husband was in the 4/16 class and has an online class starting 5/20. also we just checked employee express and you guys are getting paid starting from the date of onboarding 4/16. the first check has 56 hours of pay
