Hiring Pause

Heard that President Trump stopped government hiring except critical agencies - specifically Immigration, Customs & Boarder Patrol. Anybody know if that includes/excludes the FAA?

Thanks.

NATCA and the FAA collaborated a couple years back to remove “public safety” from the ATC job description and government classification, they thought it put too much pressure and additional attention/oversight on the job.

So no, we are not “good”, unless you consider being good as being under a hiring freeze (which I do and I hope it extends till the end of the fiscal year).

Why would they [NATCA] do that? Considering we have a decades old staffing problem, wouldn’t we want all the attention/oversight we could get? I also feel like removing “public safety” from our job description will give the agency more reason to take away our “good time” retirement one day and say “that’s for law enforcement, firefighters etc.” Terrible play imo considering how negotiating under binding arbitration works, gives them one more valid argument to strip that away if we get to the table.

If they took away good time no one would do this job. Sure the naive off the street chasing six figures may. But once they find out what was lost and what the old controllers once had, there’s no way the sacrifice of academy
, OJTI, stuck in a level 5 shithole with no end in sight, grueling shift work and 6 day workweeks, lagging pay, delaying mental/ physical health treatment for fear of losing your medical to a flight surgeon who sees you once every two year, AND BEING TREATED LIKE A NORMAL FED HAVING TO WORK MRA+30? No this career would burn faster than LA and the NAS would suffer.

All that being said I doubt they take good time, congress would lose their shit when their home airport’s flights gets an EDCT a week after their scheduled departure time.

Any references on this?

Ahhh, also maybe best for a different thread, but how does (if it does) "Schedule F" effect ATC?
It shouldn’t at all really. Schedule F is for policy-making/determining positions so that wouldn’t cover us. It would be for the higher levels of the FAA though.

I 100% agree, see everything you say is real Raise When and I respect you cause you tell it. My girlfriend’s jealous cause I talk about you 24/7.
raise when til I die.

0 scam details, been on the boards my entire 15+ year career. You want me on that wall, you NEED me on that wall.

Fuck all the scammers and traffic dodgers, we need to make this CAREER great again. Fuck, we’re entering dark times, sold out from the union who was supposed to fight for us

Not much help here but why does NATCA do anything NATCA does nowadays?
Because they take money from the agency under the table to allow our jobs to slowly get shittier. I can’t prove it, but I’m certain it happens. Why else would NATCA do what NATCA does nowadays?

#1 go-to line for facreps reaching to still validate NATCA “well they fought so you could wear sweat pants and a hoodie to work.” Yeah okay NATCA did that, there’s a STARK difference in the NATCA we have now.
