Postponed until December 6th-8th, 2021…

Email from NEB:

“Dear Brothers and Sisters,

After significant internal discussion, we have decided to once again postpone our 18th Biennial Convention in Houston. This was not an easy decision, but the pandemic continues to affect our families and our workplaces.

There currently are more aggressive and transmissible strains of COVID-19 circulating. According to the CDC, the Delta variant now represents more than 83 percent of the cases currently circulating in the United States. It is spreading most rapidly across the South. In the last two weeks, Texas specifically has seen its COVID-19 cases increase by 177 percent. After months of a downward progression of COVID-19 cases since January, hospital officials from the Greater Houston area are reeling from a new surge of patients. This increase in infections and hospitalizations in Houston may force public local health agencies to amend their guidance on COVID-19 precautions, such as mask wearing in public or restricting all large indoor gatherings.

In addition, we recently held a Convention planning walkthrough in Houston, and unfortunately, six fully vaccinated members of the committee became ill and tested positive for COVID-19. They are all on the path to recovery, and we wish them a speedy return to health and everyday routines.

Clearly, our first priorities are the safety of our members and their families, as well as the continued safe operation of the National Airspace System. Therefore, once again delaying our 18th Biennial Convention is the sensible decision. Thank you for your cooperation as we work to protect our Union and its members during these unprecedented times.

Below, we will attempt to answer some anticipated questions. If you have other questions, the planning committee will try to answer them. You may reach them at this email address: [email protected].

In solidarity,

NATCA National Executive Board”

There’s no reason this can’t be held on zoom. Or god forbid you just send out the amendments to everyone to vote on.
But they need to lavishly spend that hard earned dues $. Not unlike ALPA, who always makes a point to meet in Florida or some place nice and warm in the winter. Shrimp cocktails all around, nice cigar selection, liquor flowing like the rivers of Babylon

But honestly, the in-house/dedicated union serves us pretty well. Imagine if ATC was represented by the Teamsters (mob)

I've never understood this. In the past, there have been members in my facility that approved of an amendment and the FACREP voted against it because the majority did not support it. Or the get to the convention and get coerced by a bigger facility to vote against it.

Use the convention to debate/condense all the similar amendments and send it out for each member to vote. BAM

That would make too much sense.

Stuff might pass they only benefits the members not the reps

Lol anyone that thinks Unions are a Democracy….I’ve got a bridge for sale…

They should send the amendments out to the whole membership then maybe they can ratify them at the conference. And then they can explain to the whole membership why we were wrong.

Remember when it was asked if the membership could vote on privatisation and the response was "a membership vote is not practical, you elected us to make the decision for you?"
I agree with privatization, but you need to fall in line Gulf Charlie. Get off these boards. Be a good soldier. Go to the NATCA or the RVPs social media pages. Tell them it was a “good call” to push convention back again lol.
