If somebody wants to move across the globe because they have no skills outside of this job let em. I’m sure their family and friends will miss them /s
Mistaking a lack of skills/marketability for what is realistically our careers first instance of a competitive employer market is hilarious.

This also provides us with a good starting point for comparative pay. Australia handles 24.57 million passengers in 2021 vs the US 666.15 million. With Australia pay for experience ranging from $101kUS to $145kUS while the base pay range in the US is roughly $88k to $185kish?

There is a lack of sense comparing those two that should be pointed out more often.

Fuck being stuck at an 8 or below, live where they'll pay you to do what you do, I fucking love Bluey.

If someone wants to comment on a forum in all their ignorance thinking people are making this move because they can only do air traffic control let em. Im sure they have friends and family that love them /s

That site is garbage. I used a salary of 174,000 in each Oklahoma City, New York City, Tampa, and Miami and it gave me the "equivalent" of 250,382 for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide.

There's no way.

Ok maybe the site is shit? I figured it was good as it let narrow it down by city vs just country since there can be a wide disparity. There’s other sites with calculators out there. Doesn’t change the fact it’s PPP you want to compare rather than exchange rate.

The f is this even supposed to mean?

Is calling out people's lack of skills outside ATC supposed to be some kind of insult?

Now in the past, some of this forum's pro-bootlickers used our "lack of skill" to attempt to gaslight others into thinking we aren't worth that much.

I suppose having alternative options available to us challenges the notion we aren't worth much, so now said bootlickers need to revert to mocking people for considering other opportunities.

Exactly. Their post basically says ," ha, im superior to you." Can't fix bad parenting.

You did a shit job with your sarcasm, then.

Best I could tell you were being sarcastic that the friends/family would miss the person.

"them /s" implies applying sarcasm to sentence.

Vs

"them.

/s"

Implies entire post was sarcastic.

This is a distinction I’ve never heard of before. /s has always just meant a sarcastic post

I swear I've seen it used to depict a portion of a post as sarcastic.

I.E: When someone writes a serious reply but wraps it up with a sarcastic remark.

Well, that's what I thought OP was doing, anyways.

This thread turned into a dumpster fire very quick haha. All things considered. I'm a cpc at a level 9 with awful staffing and feeling like I'm in a sinking ship. I have a wife and one child and I am heavily considering this opportunity. Why you may ask? I have extended family in Perth so it does not seem so far out of the realm of possibilities. The other reasons? The experience alone. I also feel stuck in the faa with no escape. Is it a gamble throwing away this pension? Maybe. But I'm going to weigh how I feel as I go through the hiring process. If I'm not happy getting grinded out 5 days a week, sometimes six with no ability to get time off other than using sick leave and another country is offering dual citizenship and the chance for my child to have multiple opportunities in two different countries and I can be compensated with similar pay and MORE time off. Ya I'm considering telling the FAA to fuck off. I already never see my extended family with this job and schedule. What difference does it make to me on the other side of the globe. I'll put some shrimp on the barbie for ya boys and worst case... You know the faa will take me back so if anything I get to experience australia for a couple years on a gamble.

If you have extended family it makes life so much easier. Go for it. Also, I did reread the latest CPC Reinstatement SOP, they removed experience in the last 5 years. Even if they do not recognize the ICAO license, you are still good.

Do it lol. I’ve seen people leave for a lot less lol. Worse case yeah you come back in a couple years. Good life experiences.

For those who've applied, could you give me some insight on what they're looking for in the application. They want evidence of initial Training Certificate for first Licence attained, and evidence of any further Ratings/Endorsements. I've got an old CTO card and my Credentials card. Is this all they're after, or do I need something else?
Evidence of English Language Proficience: do they want me to submit an essay, or something?

Aviation medical: who do I ask/where do I go to get this?

Thanks!

They told me to resubmit my resume for English cert. Others have used the ratings card that states it on the back.

People also used the ratings card as proof of certifications.

I copied all my SF50s just to have at home. I then combined them along with offer letters to show my initial hire, certification, transfer, certification etc. So they got about 10 pages of my work history that way.

Reached out to my RFS for the medical. They yelled at me and gave me a different email to use. That one resulted in the full medical exam from the doctor. When I reached out to the new contact he gave me they just sent me a medical certificate saying I am cleared to work as a controller.
