Curious why facilities this group is hoping for? I know we have a long way to go and it’s pointless to hope for anything before we even pass basics, but everyone’s got a preference, right?

I do for sure. But it’s separated into two main categories. 1. Facilities/locations I don’t want to go to: Oakland, or the northeast coast. COL is just too far out for somebody on AG pay with a family of four total. I’m sure anything is possible, but those are my bottom preferences.

2. The facility I want: is ZFW. It’s my home, I know this area like the back of my hand, plus it’s where my family, friends and my entire life has been. As I’ve grown up I’ve met new people, made some great friendships. My kids have friends here too so it would be cool to see them all grow up together.

I did get a 1 bedroom. faarooms is on a waitlist, but A&T/Corporate solutions was available. I went through the student service website to get the number and just text them. They sent me a lease that evening. Sounds like they only have North available right now, but ask for a south wait list spot!

North is “older” and the secondary complex, all paperwork and such is handled at the south. The south complex is also where the shuttle picks up.

Right there with you on the places I hope I DONT end up. Add LA to the list too. It’s nowhere near LA, and it’s in the middle of the dessert. So you get none of the good that comes with living in “Los Angeles” and all of the downsides of high COL. Also not super interested in Atlanta.

I’d like MSP, SLC, or even ZOB. Wouldn’t mind coming back to ZDV, but it’s not super cheap right now in this area.

I’ve still gotta finish out my 2 weeks at my current job and take a Vegas vacation before the academy. Definitely not counting down the days for academy yet! Haha

I’m like the others on here. I don’t really want to end up on the west coast. I’m from Tennessee so hoping somewhere along the East Coast for me.

Also, JTL2ATC I am staying at the Anatole as well. Unfortunately they couldn’t get me in till the 15th so I’ll be at a hotel for the first few days.

Anybody know if our class is maxed out yet? Or if there is a Facebook group yet? Hopefully we can get everybody on one platform and be able to easily communicate with each other.

I think this forum might be the best place to convene for now. I’m not a big facebook user, plus it’ll be hard to get ahold of anyone else that isn’t already on this platform, I’d think. StuckMic seems like a pretty dead site, and the guys over on Reddit seem to be pretty dickish to academy people or those with questions.

Definitely itching with anticipation for more info on our first week/what our schedule is going to be. Not sure I’ll be free to meet for dinner, but maybe a drink after the dinner hour. Depends what time I get into town. I’ve got a hotel downtown for the 10th.

Aw damn. That sucks! Especially since the per diem may not cover it. Have you looked into an extended stay place on the student service website for a couple days?

Yeah, I'm not big on facebook either. So much so that I'm struggling to even be able to login right now haha. I'm with you, definitely getting antsy for it all to begin. I'm sure once it starts it'll be rolling along like a freight train.

I'm assuming nobody has their welcome packet yet?

edit: I'm also in the same boat as jfloyd0707, except mine is only a one day stay in a hotel that I'll probably have to cover most of. Just hoping to find one that is reasonable with the shuttle service. Idk, might try and drive in on the first day but it would seem like that would add to the potential problems of the day, having to register a car and so on and so forth.

I went the day before to do my security stuff it takes like 5 minutes. Then the first day showed up about 630ish they give you your badge and a card to put in your vehicle which is your pass. Then we all drove over to building 14. Then its death by power point

So, in theory I could get there "early" on the 10th and get all that(most of it at least) out of the way and then only deal with my badge and car pass on the 11th?

Also, do they "allow" motorcycles in the academy? I assume with the pass that would be somewhat of an issue...

I have seen a few few people driving a motorcycle. The whole process is like 5 minutes. I thought it took longer is why I went the day before.

Gotcha, good info to have. I was planning on bringing it, that way my wife and kids aren't constantly stuck in an apartment haha

It's not supposed to be switched because you have to write vehicle info on it. It's a good question to ask they may give you 2 or just have you write both vehicles on it. I am not sure
