High Risk Return for Currency

I just had a buddy call and tell me that their facility reached out to them today and said they needed to report next week, no scheduled shift provided, to maintain their currency. This employee is considered high risk and has been on excused leave, due to COVID, since the end of March. Has anyone experienced this thus far or have any advice? I told them to get in touch with their RVP and try to get some guidance.

NATCA national sent out an email last week or so. Nonessentials are expected to come back, get currency, and go home. High-risk people were supposed to be given the choice: come back for a day to get currency, or let it lapse and have to go through OJT again (once training starts) and re-cert. There was a thread on here about it. From what I understood they should be able to decide for themselves.

Oh I would def get with if not the facrep then the RVP. I mean yeah it is a question of do you want an over the shoulder or OJT to get current again, but if he’s willing to go to the OJT route I don’t think they can really force a high-risk person like that then.

If you are a pot stirrer (IE, someone who has a brain and is not a sheep) I wouldnt let currency lapse. They have you by the balls if you are decertified, high risk condition or not. They may find that you conveniently lost your mojo and off to the NEST to choose a new country club

This is what my supe told me they were doing. We don’t have any trainees that are certified on anything or high risk people but he got that communication.

This friend was told that they can either come in for currency or take sick leave as they were being recalled to maintain currency.
Whoa...yeah my understanding was that per the new guidance high risk were “offered the option” of returning for currency and then returning to excused, or remaining on excused and letting currency lapse. I’d get in touch with FACREP or RVP. Sick leave seems inappropriate here.

^This. I was offered the option but declined it due to: Increase in cases, one in the facility popping positive, and the fact masks are not mandated.

High risk making 200k a year. Give them 50% at home and get rid of admin I bet he’d be at work. RobertB isn’t your state not even wearing masks?? I’m sure those ping pong tournaments are getting intense. You’re all so fucking weak. Go to work

Hahaha..... It's funny when I can't tell if you're just trolling or serious. well done.... All that is missing is a 'Merica!' at the end...

So your solution is to have someone, not even at my facility, whom the CDC says is higher risk return to work when 80% less traffic is flying? This friend isn’t making 200K.
If you’re talking about “my state,” our governor is a bumbling imbecile from South Georgia. Few places are mandating masks. From what I’ve been told and seen on the news, almost everyone is wearing masks at place such as: Kroger (grocery store), Best Buy, et cetera.
How does someone having underlying medical issues make them weak?

It’s cool bro we’ll keep subsidizing your 5 and 5 schedule for the next 5 years.

Bro he probably isn’t even a CPC in New York and he is talking out his rear. Just a year or two ago he was talking about having to go to TETRA and TSEW. Just some garbage transfer thinking they made it big working Islip.

I guess they can’t call you a trainee if you can’t train. Winning?
I guess but I always preferred the term half-wit even though it didn’t catch on... /s

Serious question though... If developmental reported tomorrow, what are you going to train on? There is literally no traffic. You guys surely don’t think you should be certified at high level facilities currently working 20% of a normal workload, right? That’s a recipe for disaster.

I went to work today and worked my certified postions and it was poppin. Probably 80% of normal here. Yah I want to train. I can do this. Put me in coach.
