Aircraft Characteristics

Hello guys. So I was just curious why the aircraft characteristics chart they give you at the academy has the B1B having the same or lower climb rate and performance than the B2, the B742, and the K35R? The B1 drastically outperforms those aircraft.

Haha thank you guys! I already remember the chart. I was just like I know the the B1 is a higher performance aircraft so I don't know if my chart has a mistake or not lol

That’s funny but it will be the first in a long career of wtf moments with the FAA. Btw one of the coolest things I ever saw was a B1 doing an afterburner climb at an air show. It shook the ground, very impressive.
My first ever air show was in Vegas when I was like 12 and a B1 did this and I didn’t know what to expect. My ears are still ringing.

Don’t try to apply logic to aircraft types while you’re at the academy. Seriously. The numbers they gave you are (roughly) how they’ll perform in the simulator, but that has zero bearing on how they’ll perform in real life. If you find yourself trying to “outsmart” the problem by saying something like “that 152 will slow down on final so I can get this departure out”, just don’t. The guys who did worst in my class were the experienced ones who kept trying to rely on their knowledge of how things actually worked instead of the fiction that is academy land.

This is a question from someone who got a 98% on the AC characteristics test. You're gonna do fine, kid
