Personally I figured it'd be a year or so, I am shocked at the speed the taliban retook the country worst case I was thinking a few months post withdrawal, but we weren't even fully out yet.

Nothing. We should have left after wiping the floor with em in 01 and 02.

ANA was a literal paper tiger. 300k on the payroll, but most of that was a paycheck grift scheme by afghan generals, not to mention the less than 100k they probably actually had also weren't getting payed most of the time, were rife with dudes who got issued a rifle and deserted, or have been waiting on this for years.

Anyone surprised by this or who believed biden last month when he said the afghans would stand and fight is a fool.

China isn't gonna invade, at least not militarily. They don't care about the plight of the Afghan people, terrorism in the west, making sure little girls can go to school or any other feelgood measures we used to justify the last 2 decades there.

They are just gonna give the taliban a bunch of money to let them exploit the resources they don't have the infrastructure to do themselves and let the taliban do what it wants with the rest of it, unlike us who wanted to do the same but at least needed to act like we were trying to do some good while doing so. Whole war was a grift for the military industrial complex.

they’re not going to start shooting the Chinese if they have a deal with them and the Chinese gives them lots of money to mine their resources and mind their business. Hell pre-2001 even US companies had mining and pipeline agreements with the Taliban. The Taliban didn’t give a crap about the US one way or the other until after we invaded. They have Osama and al-Qaeda sanctuary in return for billions of dollars from Osama and Gulf donors.
