No, it isn’t false at all. The vaccine absolutely reduces your chance of getting Covid to begin with, even the delta variant. If you have a much smaller chance of getting it, means there is a much smaller percentage of the population who has it to spread in the first place. So yes, it does slow the spread. And even if you catch it while vaccinated, if everyone around you is vaccinated it reduces the likelihood of them catching it from you. This isn’t fucking complicated.

Okay cool, way to restate your straw man, you’re literally ignoring that the entire point that the claim that vaccinated people don’t spread the virus as much as vaccinated people has been debunked.

Only if you disregard that the cdc also said you have 6 times less chance of getting it in the first place.

And you’re literally ignoring the fact that you can’t ignore the probability of someone catching it in the first place.

Yes, if a vaccinated person catches Covid the have as much a chance of spreading it to unvaccinated people as a unvaccinated person would. But if a vaccinated person has covid, it’s 6x less likely of them spreading it to another vaccinated person. Ergo, if everyone is vaccinated, the spread is slowed.

So I watched dune the other night, was pretty legit. glad they already announced part 2.

May have to actually go read the book now in the meantime, been on the ever expanding reading list for a long while now.

The book is a tough read. It’s not bad, but the writing style is, interesting.

How come everyone was so excited for dune? I had not ever heard of it. I was just curious why all my friends want to see this franchise so bad all of a sudden? I know these MFers don’t read

It’s pretty much the birth of modern sci-fi. No Dune, no Star Wars.

Yes, because that wasn’t the claim. Congratulations, you understand what a straw man is. I expect you to forget it shortly.

But that wasn’t the claim made in the links I posted.

I’m glad you can agree with that. The people in the links I posted said otherwise.

That’s great. It wasn’t the claim made months ago that the new research is addressing, though.

Ok so if we just agree to your claim then what does it mean? Should people not get the vaccine? What do you want from all this? Just to own fauci? How come every other country has come to the same conclusion about vaccines?

I don’t know why you can’t grasp the fact that the virus evolved. But maybe you don’t even believe in evolution. Who knows

I read all your links minus the NYT one because pay wall, but literally none of them said what you’re saying they said. Not a single one says vaccinated people can’t spread it. If I missed it, and you’d like to point it out, by all means please do. But it appears to me they all just say you’re less likely to catch it in the first place when vax’d.

I think if you just click out of that box on NYT you can read it. I think they show the Covid articles for free. I’ve been able to read them at least

I want the same thing I’ve always wanted: the abolishment of vaccine mandates, which have life-changing effects on people’s lives, that are based on sCiEnCe that changes every few months to not say what it said before. People should get vaccinated, but to destroy their lives if they don’t want to, over a virus this deadly, is wrong.

Oh good lord. I’m drowning in straw. Next you’ll say that I claimed that the pandemic is all fake, and Trump won, and that my links don’t show evidence for those either.

Ya I've heard that that's kind of why I haven't read it yet..... I'm not always in the mood to have my brain challenged by the writing style of a book.

I thought the movie was excellently done and it makes me really curious about the book though, as the book is always better in my experience.

I can’t fight against a straw man, clearly you win, and you putting words in my mouth is all it took.

Cool, so you’re saying you can’t show where in your sources they claim a vaccinated person can’t spread it. Got it.

If you seriously don’t know the difference between the phrases “vaccinated people spread the virus slower” and “vaccinated people can’t spread the virus,” I don’t know what to tell you. ?

But none of them said a vaccinated person spreads it slower. They say a vaccinated person is less likely to get it, and by fewer people having it, fewer people spread it, and fewer people to catch it.

“Vaccinated People May Spread the Virus, Though Rarely” are literally the first words of the NY Times article’s title. It also contains this quote:

Even if breakthrough infections are rare, the new data suggest the vaccinated may be contributing to increases in new infections — although probably to a far lesser degree than the unvaccinated.

I don’t even know why I bother so hard sometimes with people who just refuse to read.
