Calling the east coast a single entity is so funny. The north east is entirely different from the south which is entirely different from Florida and the mid Atlantic. The west coast is pretty similar but I’d even call the PNW different enough from Cali as to not lump them all together. No where is more insufferable than the south east

Well, for starters the pandemic didn’t really get started in the US til late March/April. So that’s an extra 3-4 months in 2021. Secondly, it doesn’t matter how many vaccines are available when effectively almost all the deaths occurring in 2021 are unvaccinated people. Vaccinated people account for less than 1% of deaths in 2021. Thirdly, for most of pandemic 2020 there were much fewer large gatherings. Public transport was largely empty, no/few concerts or sporting events, minimum capacity in bars and restaurants etc. whereas in 2021 it’s mostly been business as usual in most of the country for most of the year. Also, the biggest spike of Covid deaths occurred in January of 2021.

I’m saying pretty much all restrictions are stupid because of how there’s constant examples on both the pro/anti lockdown/mask/etc crowd of how effective they are against the spread. It’s stupid and scientifically unsound at this point to do anything but recommend vaccinations as a way to keep yourself safe.
