ATO/FAA isn't that worried about controller staffing

I sound like a conspiracy theorist but I've gone off and said that they agency negotiated, collaborated, bent over, and this 85% number is perfect for them.

The most expensive thing in the agency is having a CPC move, that's why it's reserved for people who have 15 years at a level 10 and up. That's the only people who can move freely around the nas.

Now look at the 30 core facilities, controllers there aren't moving. Controllers from vfr towers can hop right into a supervisory position at any of the commercial tower, tracons, or centers assuming they hit 7/10 staffing and got their deviation approved with 3 trainees slated for checkout.

On top of that paying overtime is cheaper than training and pensions. 85% is the efficiency number--this is the number we need for an efficient operation where there are 6 day work weeks. Below 85% delays start adding up, but we can approve deviations sometimes.

How does that sound union we treasure your input into collab

This is the face of the business side when attrition to 80% staffing is backfilled with overtime instead of new bodies
