Controllers Fight in DCA Tower

The union that represents air traffic controllers at Reagan and airports across the countrydeclined to comment on the situation.

Really?

You think that dude’s working traffic again? I’d be shocked if he didn’t take a medical retirement or a SSS job after being involved with something like that.
Nothing saying it couldn’t turn out either way. There’s no arguing that can be very traumatic for someone. But if he’s okay they’ll let him work. The controller at VGT that let two come together in opposing bases is still working traffic after SET.

Yeah I get that, but I think it’s a little different when it’s an air carrier and the event was national news for weeks too. I doubt the FAA would even give him his medical back that quick. If he went straight back to work and god forbid something happened, people could say he was traumatized/not fit to work and it could be a huge liability for the agency.

Oh I agree, but just considering possibilities of it being him. Hell, he could just be at work hanging out with no medical and someone could’ve just hauled off and said something implicative about him causing the crash and he just snapped. It may very well have had nothing to do with that guy, but it does makes me wonder.

I obviously can’t say how I know but I do know the identity of the LC controller during the crash and the guy who was arrested and I can 100% confirm it was NOT the same guy.

I'm surprised the FAA is OK with the liability. It seems like a huge risk if another accident happens on that guys watch (even if it's not the person's fault). The news would have a field day.

I'm not commenting on if that's fair or not to the individual in the situation, I'm just saying the optics are bad for the agency.

From what I've heard the guy deserved it. Talk shit get hit. The problem is talking shit then pressing charges when you get hit. A true sign of a fake tough guy. We all know the type.
I generally agree with this but also if you decide to throw hands you should be prepared for the consequences. Getting charger for doing violence at work shouldn’t be a surprise lol.

I mean, you have to be an adult and not hit people at work too. If a controller punched someone out every time they got shit talked, there’d be none of us left.

I agree. But from what I heard this was a lot worse than the usual controller shit talking. Not excusing it, but I can understand.

Violence as a response to words isn't the way. Act like an animal and society will put you in a cage like one thankfully.
I don't disagree. At the same time talking recklessly will get you beat up. They both have consequences.

If they simply got charged because of where it happened I totally agree. I'm just saying talking big shit and being disrespectful to someone then pressing charges when they hit you is comical.

I blame management. How times does someone take a longer break and is late to work or late to relieve someone from position or they fuck you over with not doing their job correctly and management lets it slide so they don’t create waves?
