LAX

Considering that the only 2 highways that’s connect to LAX are the 405 and the 105. Your commute to work will be over a hour. Unless you live in El Segundo.

Occupied gates. Clogged alleyways. Nowhere to stash planes while they wait for the aforementioned occupied gates to open. Aircraft on end gates having to push out onto and block your busy taxiway. Traffic volume from hell. Frequency congestion also from hell. Inboard runway arrivals in the middle of your damn departure push. That enough reasons?

DFW amount of traffic, DAL size airport.

That def sounds legit. How do people fare coming from higher level tracons? Do you guys get any of those at all?

I don’t work at LAX but I’ve visited the tower a couple of times. I think the only down time is in the early AM hours. If your coming from a tracon, I don’t think there’s any comparison. LAX is one of its kind. Just like JFK is one of its kind. Can’t really compare those airports to anything else in the world. Listen to ground south for a couple of days on LiveATC so you could get a idea of how it’s like. From what the controllers in the past I’ve talked to at LAX, they’ve always mentioned if you get passed ground then you’re smooth sailing. But they’ve also said to consider LAX you have to be a mad man.

For sure man. I have no doubts LAX is a beast. I worked at N90 for a while and got a good look at how busy and complex those higher level towers can get. Just finished up at D01 and this airport can really handle some volume but I don't think the tower stands up to LAX and Kennedy in terms of complexity. Don't quote me on that, though. I don't want to make it seem like those guys aren't working hard, because they move a lot of metal.

You don't really wanna go to LAX! What's wrong with D01? I thought that was a nice place to live and work at!

It slowed down a bit during COVID, but I was training someone on south ground combined the other morning and this person is good… almost done… and I just busted out laughing at how insane the volume and operation are.

It’s literally stupid nonstop, and for every two planes that push or come in and park, another one is calling to repo to/from that gate.

It‘s fun when you‘re good at it, but it’s still a beast to work and any experienced CPC can still get their teeth punched in on south ground any day of the week. I wouldn't want to go through training again lol.

Are these staffing numbers correct? How can they be 50 cpcs and the number is 49 but ncept category is none?
Hella supes and TMU outbound and people already released I believe not reflected in that number.

We let 3 go two NCEPTs ago and that’s the last time that happens for a while.
