I'm not 100% on this, but I believe they are losing their radar to consolidation up in either CLE or something similar

Yes, our TRACON is getting consolidated to CLE around September of 2019.

I take it new trainees won’t be sent to RTF even if they checkout in the tower prior to the consolidation?

Probably, but at a recent consolidation a trainee wanted to go to RTF regardless even though he would come back a month before the exit of the radar and never train on it and the ATM inexplicably allowed it......that’s the Agency.
