Flex Shift Mou

Flexing is better than not flexing. Hard shifts suck. Like ppl are saying, its not a national MOU, it is negotiated locally

I see...has anyone every had an instance, where your flex shift was denied by mgmt?
Need more info. Were you swapping into or otherwise changing a scheduled shift?
If its a scheduled shift, and that shift is flexible, they can't tell you not to flex.

Yeah I don't get it. Everywhere I have been some shifts flex and some shifts done. It is negotiated when the annual schedule is negotiated and not something approved or denied on an individual basis

Came to work one day and was told the BWS was negotiated that one of the evening shifts (a late flex shift) requires prior approval to accomplish "training and briefings". This was after months of not having to get permissions to flex.

My point has been that having to get permission from mgmt, no longer makes the shift a flex shift but a shift change. If the request is denied and leave has to be used that defeats having a flex.

Also has anyone been to a facility where the ATM refuses to let any of the shifts be flex-shifts?

Only the Saturday 4-12 to accommodate the mid controllers come in at 2345.

As stated before flex shifts are negotiated the prior year along with leave slots and such.

Once negotiated and agreed upon mgmt can't just say "you can't flex". That sounds like piss poor mgmt, negotiating and scheduling.

Additionally once shifts are agreed upon, at the beginning of the year we print off and hang up one of these at each sign in computer. Again these times are not negotiable after they have been agreed upon.

Wait there are places where management has to approve each time someone flexes?

Your 0530 shift breaks one of the criteria of a Basic Watch Schedule from the 7210.3
"A 0530L start time or later is required when working an eight-hour day shift prior to an eight-hour midnight shift. Employees may not flex to an earlier start time than 0530L. "

It's from an old facility that I don't work at anymore... My current facility is up to par. 5am flex/credit for non mid employees, 530 for mids.

I was just trying to give him or her an example of what they should be looking for. That list was from an 11 with 50 or 60 bodies so... Obviously a smaller facility may have less wiggle room
