The woeful unpreparedness of Management

Whelp.... So much for federal job security Boys, see ya in the private sector

Maybe some lean times ahead, and changes, but with the total value of US aviation and the ancillary jobs associated with it, we won’t be going far.

in 2 years what do you think would happen if we got rid of 50% of the work force and returned to 80+ percent of the traffic?

they need us, well, most of us maybe. Some places could be fucked I suppose if they went that route.

I could see them privatizing a lot of facilities. Hell look at the 100 they are looking to reduce hours to banker type of hours.

Did anyone see that tower that said they had two flights a day? There are facilities that should be privatized and are draining resources.

Edit: My bad, after getting an angry PM- it went from 4 FLIGHTS to 2 FLIGHTS

It should be noted that no one has any idea when air traffic is going to increase. 2022 could be when we get back to the peak but it doesn’t mean that’s when we are going to be at 70% 80% 90% of normal. There’s already several examples of flights being restored trans pacific after China reopened.

YES-
McConnell just said that they want the states to go bankrupt- no bailout for USPS, the election will be on the failure of government.

You hafta give it context. States that had budget shitshows like Illinois whose pensions are out of control despite being one of the heaviest taxed states in the country. A pandemic should not be an excuse to write a blank check to bail out failing local governments. Either way regardless of your opinion on the states issues, FAA air traffic is the furthest thing from a bailout of Illinois or NY. There is absolutely no correlation. Im sure some will attempt to draw them by screaming Cocaine Mitch or Drumpf Drumpf orange chettoh bad and wants us all fired... but its not true. The election wont be on govt failure, it will be one person who is coherent and another who is feeble minded horse face pony soldier hiding in his basement listening to the record player dreaming of the days he almost challenged corn pop to a fight whiole the little kids played with his golden leg hair!

I will take a buyout or early retirement please. thx! #bestJobinTheWorld

I'm not gonna disagree with you on Joe, but calling Trump coherent..... Imma need to drink a little more of that bleach flavored kool aid before I get on board with you on that.

That’s ERI - their radar already got consolidated to BUF Bc they were the slowest tracon in the NAS. The facility is on its way to being a contract tower, according to a couple people I know. How long it will take I don’t know, but it won’t be an FAA tower forever.

Limited to the context of the two, yeah I could possibly see coherent. Maybe functional, at limited times, with assitance, when no one is looking. #bigigloo

Either way, I'd imagine a lot of non-air carrier towers are going to be examined after this/during for why they're not privatized. Sadly.

I’ll believe something when I see it. There’s no rhyme or reason to anything that happens. I have 2 contract towers near my airport. Then 2 non towered airports that are only slightly less busy. Then a level 4 a little further away that is slower then all of them.

The irony there is that two of the busiest towers in the NAS right now do not have air carrier service. FFZ and DVT are pulling higher daily numbers than LAX, LAS, DFW, etc, this month. It’s not as simple as looking at whether a facility has air carrier service or not.

That's what a logical person would say, but out of the 100 facilities getting hours cut. How many provide consistent air carrier service and how many mostly GA.

The FAA doesn't care/want D airspace, and for what it cares about GA can get lost. Not a CTO measuring contest, just stating facts, DVT is busy as shit and take serious controlling but it's also not a core 30 and is therefore irrelevant in FAA eyes.

Key words are “this month”. It’s nuts to say that DVT and FFZ overall have more of a value to the NAS than LAX or DFW, or would deserve more to stay open over those airports

Was the move of CFS from September to November really necessary?

Seems like that just pushes it into a fall resurgence of cases. I guess that's based off of flu behavior, which this is not, but still.
