Training hold

The collaborative work group OJT meeting is today I believe. Should hear some more info hopefully...
I actually do think they will work out a way to start OJTI in mid July. It has to start sometime, it's nuts to let it go on like this forever the Agency and NATCA will just be hurting themselves.

The obvious solution is to require masks during training. Or let the trainer decide if they are wearing masks.
I don’t think either person should be required to be that close to the other if one of them wants masks to be used. Could be abused by people trying to avoid a trainer or trainee so it’s probably just easiest to make it a requirement.

So is everyone starting their official ZOOM classes next week? Is that a nationwide of local thing ?

How about if you don't do as your trainer asks you go fuck yourself? This isn't a difficult equation, if you can prove that you're actively not trying to get infected to you get trained.

We were told we would start ZOOM this week but being that this is the federal government I would say that next week is a surprisingly on time turn of events

I think you broke the thread....
Sheer brilliance will do that

Starting our Zoom next week. It's very FAA that after three months of nothing the only plan anyone had was "Zoom I guess? That's a thing people are doing right?"

What’s the zoom class consist of?
Supposed to be grouped with people from the same “stage” as you. Already have a few radar certs so going over the PowerPoints for the 4th time will be fun !

So far just a filler to check a box. Probably awaiting the guidance form the big meeting happening tomorrow I think. Then they will plan for full classes as we need.

Right now it’s one hour zoom to walk through SOP and LOAs and then self study the rest of the time.

Trying to get recertified on sectors has been an interesting process to say the least.
What do you mean? I had like a 30 min over the shoulder

I mean the faa has been zooming with Oklahoma kids for months now.

I’m missing one low and one high sector. So they’d have to open up sectors/combine them creatively for me to be able to recert. We haven’t had the people/supes to do so. I’ll most likely get them tomorrow.

Interesting. I have 2 r sides and 7 d side sectors and my recert was just at 1 single radar sector that covered all my positions

Ain't no fucking way in hell I'm gonna wear a mask in the facility. If I was at JFK for a month in the middle of the NYC COVID explosion and the FAA couldnt scrounge up any masks for us to wear that whole time, nobody is going to tell me I need to wear one now. Recalling trainees to work because the threat has subsided and then saying that the workplace density is such that we need to wear masks is oxymoronic and we should just continue to stay home if there's still sufficient reason for us to wear masks in the workplace.

You just don’t want to work

You just don’t want to work

I mean he's not wrong. The FAA is considering pulling people back in when there's a lot of states not initially hammered with this thing now seeing severe upticks. My state had a 50 percent increase in cases this last week.

If they are going to bring people back in, they need to do it in a way that uses some sort of local metric, not a blanket policy for everyone.

COVID-19 cases are increasing because of increased testing availability, which was expected, and which is why every state is continuing with reopening. There’s only a handful of people at this point that don’t want to restart training because of “social distancing.” And those are very likely the same people spending their 5 (or 10) off going to restaurants, bars, packed Walmarts, or even taking cross country trips. But it’s the trainee sitting next to them that’s going to get them sick. Yeah right.
