CLT, TPA, and then Denver Approach/Tower, and Houston Approach/Tower

Amazing that CLT took so many ERRs a couple years ago. OFC the guy making IEDs like the unabomber helped open up at least 1 slot. I feel like ive met literally dozens of controllers who wistfully say.... "maybe i'll transfer down to Tampa" . Ive always assumed TPA has to be right up there at the top

There is less demand to to go IAH tower now that they're an 11. Still pretty lucrative though for the amount of work. Just have to deal with the heat down here.

CLT took a bunch in Aug 2018 cuz they had their CPC Target number raised

I was told that their ERR numbers decreased, not sure how accurate or just rumor. It's an extra 7k to go to I90, though.
Probably partially because they've had 0 picks most rounds recently and haven't been at the top so it doesn't attract the spammers

When was the last time anyone got picked up on an ERR to IAH or HOU. No one leaves those places. Its radar or bust if you wanna get to the Houston area. Even DWH is hard to get into.

Back to the San Diego bit, born and raised, loved many other places, no place like San Diego. Is the state great? No, but I'm willing to pay the insane prices to be there. You know who else is? Everyone at SAN tower... 100% staffed and been able to release 4 or 5 for the last 4 ncept rounds, and no one left! Coincident? Think not my friends.

At SEE now in San Diego. We got 3 rolling off the books not counting our one outbound. If you're wanting to come to SD, it should open soon. Great hours, great people... 8 CTOs and I still get humbled by something new everyday. Your pattern disappearing behind a mountain, Chinese language, and no radar coverage will do that to you. With that being said, y'all can have SD... Can't wait to get back to TX. And I believe that noone is leaving SAN because it's level 8 pay now with a great training program. 90% of the controllers at MYF or SEE would kill to go there.

The top and bottom of the facility levels get the fresh air while mid level facilities are stagnant with disgruntled employees who have spent the past 5 years trying to achieve some level of career progression. Mid level facilities don’t get academy grads, we don’t get NEST, we don’t have a steady flow of arrivals so we don’t release members through NCEPT. Many are turning to the DoD, Management, etc just to escape the cycle of shit they’re stuck in.

The other day someone brought up that he and one of our other guys are the only two people in 8 years to put in an ERR for my facility lol no one wants to come here... it’s all direct hires and academy grads. hmmm DOD or management to be able to escape huh ? definitely not the paths I thought I’d have to consider

yeah but I hear from well placed sources at IAH they go out on morning breaks to the airport hotels for free continental breakfasts? This sort of trashy scam de facto keeps them a 12 IMO.

Denver approach? Idk about all that. If we're talking strictly because Colorado is so f*@#ing awesome then sure I'll bite. And also if you like 2 supervisors, 1 OM, and a slew of eyes watching your every move while you're working traffic... Or how about dropping a casual "F" bomb, or any curse word, and find yourself in an instant wine garden followed by paperwork filed?... 2 hours TOP isn't uncommon... A lot of people transfer to D01 and quickly find out about the toxicity. Colorado is amazing, NATCA at D01 is great.. D01 as a whole has a ton of work to do to get better.

I have found that Draconian methods like this usually end up boomeranging and backfiring on those who wish to "crack down" on the workers in such a severe way. I think at the facilities w a very strong local, those that are the worst at unfairly targeting controllers tend to end up a target themselves; and it doesn't end well. They have no more right to bully, harass, intimidate, make toxic, discriminate, make sexual advances, behave unprofessionally, etc. than anyone else. And if they think they do, the can be brought down by the bureaucracy lightning fast. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones!

?? Just had the pleasure of him escorting me over to Denver tower (2 miles from the tracon) for a recurrent class. You know.. Because us controllers can't be trusted to commute 2 miles for a class without daddy. They're literally micromanaging our commutes ??.

My friend 'Jimmy Kingston' works at Denver. At least that's his pen name. Real rabble rouser that one! Highly loved by NATCA's top brass :rofl:
