Is there any way to leverage the veteran hiring process or previous experience to get the location that I want even if it may not be on my list? I am looking to go to a certain tower only, I do not want to move again. They are currently at 86% staffing and projected to by 98% if all of their trainees get certified. I am still waiting on my list so I don't know if it will be on there or not, but I want to be prepared or even know if it's an option to request a specific location. Thanks.

Okay, so I will be essentially be working two hiring processes at once? In your opinion how would you word this email? Lol.

Kind of, except that you don’t have to do clearances twice. The ATM will send your package to the District for approval, they’ll send it in to HR, and HR sends it up to the ATO for final sign off. If they deny it for whatever reason, you’ll still get a list from the prior bid. If they approve it, you’ll get a FOL with that facility listed. I’d just keep the email brief… All of the ATMs know of the Direct Hire avenue, so they won’t be caught off guard or anything. Let them know you’re currently in the area and wanting to stay, and that you’re attaching your resume and credentials for review if their staffing allows for prior experience pick-up. Something along those lines. Good luck!
