I actually like this, I wish they would post more stuff in support of labor instead of picture of themselves at NASA or wherever the fuck
True, but I’m sure plenty of members would rather they focus on fighting for their own workforce instead of worrying about what other unions/workers are doing. I think it’s safe to say overall approval of the union, particularly beyond the local level, is probably at all time low. A huge factor for that is people feel too NATCA brass doesn’t fight for anything other than their own interests/benefits.

I dont disagree with the end of that, but I don't think two copied and pasted sentences take a ton of focus or energy

NATCA could fight for the rest of us to get some extra leave, but they’re busy saying fuck the Pringles guy this week.
I'm totally fine with having solidarity with other labor orgs in this country, I didn't hear any bitching about the flight attendants union during the last shutdown doing the same.

Of all the things to get salty with natca about this ain't it.

Cheezits are disgusting and make my mouth dryer than a woman finding her husbands pointsixtyfive username.

In other news my friend wants to do a fam flight next year but found out he has to shave. Guy said screw it I'll shave the eyebrows too. Any thoughts on that?

I could definately give up my weekly pop-tart binge.
Good for my heart, good for labor.

Not gonna lie, fellas: I have been giving NATCA shit about this for 2+ years now. I know showing public solidarity is a little petty to choose as a mountain to fight on considering all the other worthwhile things to complain to NATCA about them not doing, but coming from a UAW family (about a dozen family members - going back to my great-grandfather - employed by Ford, Jeep, and Chrysler) it was something that really pissed me off when they casually brushed off showing solidarity a couple years ago.

I sent national NATCA numerous emails back when the UAW was on strike in Buffalo, NY almost 2 years ago asking NATCA about showing any solidarity with UAW. I even asked if I were to show up to the picket line on my own time wearing something with NATCA on it; they told me they didn't endorse me doing anything but I should send them photos in case they wanted to use it later at some point. That response boiled my blood.

From September through November I sent them roughly a half-dozen unanswered emails regarding the Frito-Lay, John Deere, and Kellogg strikes. I finally decided to blatantly CC my follow-up emails to UAW and BCTGM contacts and I suddenly got phone calls and emails from RVPs and my FacRep about my inquiry that same week. They gave me political BS answers then, but, I guess if you bitch loud enough and long enough...

Maybe I should start complaining about other things...

This is what the union should look like. Good for you.

It does make me wonder why showing solidarity with UAW seems like such a third-rail for them, though. They gave me politics-101 BS answers including "we want solidarity with everyone, but not at our own expense." That in and of itself made me want to go 10 rounds about that very statement being antithetical to unions, but I had to remind myself we're not in a real union and I clearly did enough to piss them off that they actually, finally, followed up with me in order to try and shut me up.

Maybe the new union leadership has at least one difference compared to the last ones. Good for you though we need more stuff like this.

We don’t need extra leave.
We need and deserve hazard pay, as outlined in the contract and OPM laws.
Working through a declared pandemic while the office pukes worked from home.
But hey, NOTICE TO AIR MISSIONS and all that.

Agreed 100%. And trainees shouldn’t be subjected to frivolous training pauses because COVID is too dangerous, but then still expected to sit next to the same people they would otherwise be training with to monitor day in and day out. And our union rubber stamped all of this.
