Oh I understood that. They told us we are going to stay on zoom until after all of what I mentioned will happen. Then they got to get the CPC-ITs first. In many ways I’m grateful because I don’t have to just sit there at work but at the same time I still can’t believe D2s aren’t even back yet. We could have all went back in November but they told us in October to not come back for the recert.
Wow so you’re basically home -and expected to be home- for over a year? That’s insane. Anyone else in this situation? What region is this?

I am a D1 and was home since March of last year. D2s that have already been through R school have also been in this situation.
And yes. At this point I kind of want them to have us not come back til after SWAP season now lol. But it’s ridiculous.
Eastern Region.

Wow that sucks, I thought everyone would be brought back once vaccinated

My understanding is that getting a shot means you can return to the facility, it does not grant you the ability to train. I think there will be a lot of sitting and waiting around, aka back to normal
Except in a mask, you poor bastards, and possibly not even allowed to sit in on the floor. Somehow that seems significantly more suck than the normal thumb twiddling.

Yeah. The biggest pro is that we don’t just have to sit there if we aren’t getting trained at all.
The con is obviously it takes forever to get back. The gating criteria is never going to get yellow here it seems lol.
I have my first vacation since the pandemic in June so I’m just kinda holding out til then hopefully. But knowing my luck that’s when they’ll call me back

So they let you guys lapse in October?? On purpose?? That's nuts! Did they let the CPC-ITs and D2s recert?

I actually can't believe they didn't have the D2s back for staffing forever ago to extend 5/10. Her area 100% wanted her back to help keep their sweet schedule intact, but they'd fucked up and let her lapse in May, promising a waiver that never materialized. To my knowledge, everyone with any (current) D-sides in June was kept current and later recalled to keep the schedule. Some of those have since gone through R school, but folks who were in R school last March have no certs anymore and will essentially start from scratch whenever they figure out a plan. Guess she'll have some real seniority on the trainee bid line for the next couple of years...

Interesting that they brought your CPC-ITs back first. Was that before or after they intentionally lapsed you? She wasn't given any reason to think that she'd be called back any quicker than the others in her R-school and are also past a year.

I think I kind of explained it wrong.
So all of us went back to recert either June or early July. When expected to go back in October they told all of us, including CPC-ITs that we didn’t need to.
When the FAA tried to recall everybody with a cert right around Thanksgiving last year, we weren’t able to go back because none of us were up to date with datacomm and we needed lab time first. So everyone was still at home.
The gating criteria never allowed any of us to go back but first priority was always CPC-ITs and CPCs on high risk, which makes sense. Now that the vaccine protocol has started they said we should be able to come back but as of now, we are waiting for the labs to reupdate and that apparently will take 3 weeks. And we are getting the new monitors which won’t allow us to train for a little while I guess?
