Training hold

My facility specifically said if you’re beyond 100 miles from the facility during work hours under any circumstances, you have to put in for annual.

And anyone who thinks people who have been FORCED to sit on EA against their will should be punished in any way can go fuck themselves.

Some of them weren't forced. Our EA guy came back when they told him he'd have to re-enter training. I'd argue that trainees that were forced to stay home should accrue sick leave. The high risks probably not.

Don’t wanna take this thread in another direction, but interesting conversation at work last night, do you think people home on EA shouldn’t earn SL?? You figure, all the controllers working, during this awful Chinese virus are using their annual, sick leave, subject to discipline etc etc while a bunch of people are chillin at home racking up the leave....just a thought, but where’s the #HazardPay
I agree with you PushingTin

Same. One of ours said they were staying out and bid as a trainee to get all the holidays off then came back before being forced to retrain

Lol but who is actually doing that... no one
But that’s not the question. The question is do EA people deserve the right to accrue sick leave. CPCs are not supposed to use sick leave unless they’re actually sick but how many of them bang in on a shift when they’re not actually sick?

Yah they deserve the right to accrue sick leave cus they are federal employees. And all federal employees get 4 hours a pay check. Any other questions?

Wrong. Sick leave doesn’t only cover being “sick”

From the slate book defining sick leave:
a. is incapacitated and cannot perform the essential duties of his/her position because of physical or mental illness, injury, pregnancy, or childbirth;
b. receives medical, dental, or optical examinations or treatment;
c. would, per a health authority with jurisdiction or a health care provider, jeopardize the health of others due to exposure to a communicable disease;
d. for any activity related to the adoption of a child upon proper notification and documentation, when requested. Leave for parents who voluntarily choose to be absent from work to bond with an adopted child is covered under Article 26 and Article 30 of this Agreement.

Employees may use sick leave for general family medical care and bereavement purposes as follows in order to:
a. provide care for a family member who is incapacitated by a medical or mental condition or attends to a family member receiving medical, dental, or optical examination or treatment;
b. makes arrangements necessitated by the death of a family member or attends the funeral of a family member.

I can’t wait to read tomorrow’s thread. Can we talk about how trainees on EA should be forced to come to work and go get us food? Or some other dumb question.

Interesting. Goes beyond being sick like I just said. Maybe the person who bangs in has a spouse or child that’s sick. Maybe said spouse has a medical appointment. Maybe the employee has a medical appointment. Maybe their situation has nothing to do with you anyway and doesn’t matter if they decide to use the leave they’re entitled to

Yeah! Lazy fuckers. They should pay too.
Although if they’re driving Uber eats maybe they can bring food

Or maybe they’re going to beach and posting pics on instagram about it

I do think those on EA due to high risk from lifestyle choices should be held accountable. If you’re out because you’re a smoker but still smoking or if you’re out on obesity but just as fat now as you were 12 months ago then that is bullshit. But we all know nothing is going to happen so no point in getting pissed.

Think about this logically for a second, you want to hold something against people for their health choices? What would you hold them accountable for, living their life their own way? They made a choice and will have to deal with their own personal consequences in due time, this whole “mob” mentality of wanting to punish people for “getting away” with something needs to stop.

So someone who says it’s too dangerous for them to go to work because of a lifestyle choice shouldn’t be expected to change their lifestyle if they expect free leave?

I like Spicy chicken sandwiches and free emergency annual. The value menu has never felt so good.

Obesity is frequently subdivided into categories:

  • Class 1: BMI of 30 to < 35
  • Class 2: BMI of 35 to < 40
  • Class 3: BMI of 40 or higher. Class 3 obesity is sometimes categorized as “extreme” or “severe” obesity.
Use this handy calculator to see how close you are to free leave!
