So what’s the goal? The goal is send kids back to school? So we are going to prioritize the teachers that haven’t gone back yet so they can get fully vaccinated by late April/May just to reopen for 2-4 weeks until summer?

I don’t have any problem with any in person teacher getting vaccinated. The whole point of priorities is to mitigate risk. There is no risk in virtual school.
The risk in virtual school is those kids are going to be the ones that missed out on the education that should be in person. I can tell you from experience online classes are terrible for learning

Another vaccine that was rushed to production as fast as possible. I don’t think you are understanding people’s concerns. Yes the mRNA being newly allowed for humans is something to worry about but it is also the long term effects that we won’t know about for some time. For any of these vaccines. They are for a virus that we don’t completely understand.
I trust the science and the trials and the millions and millions of people that have already gotten it. You act like the egg heads that make it don’t know what’s it in and how the ingredients will act in your body.

to be fair, not too long ago science was in favor of lobotomies and smoking cigarettes and excessive consumption of sugar

i'm not saying thats a reason not to take the vaccine im just saying just because someone slaps a "science!" label on something doesn't make it infallible

I think we’ve come a long way since then. It’s funny cus older people will get it no problem cus they can remember when people still got polio. young people walk around thinking vaccines aren’t important

Again. Long term. Not how it will affect you in three months since getting it. Loooooooong term.

How is this small amount of known material going to harm you years from now. How many years you want to wait 1,5,20? They have been testing MRNA vaccines for 15 years.

and the Johnson and Johnson and novavax use more traditional methods. I just want heard immunity so we can stop wearing the masks and i don’t want to die. I’d feel pretty bad if I turned it down and wound up being the .01% in my age group.

I just don’t want the vaccine. Did I get other vaccines as a child like measles? Hell yeah. Do I give my kid that shot? Hell yeah.

The point is, there are people that get flu shots every year, then there are people that don’t. When people aren’t dying like we were thinking in March 2020, and now we have a year of data, the death rate is so low. Hell, coronavirus helped bring down flu cases to low levels.
Same, I’m even the type of person that tries to not take anything for a headache if I can help it. I’m not “ afraid “ like someone else mentioned but why put something in my body if I’m pretty sure I’ll be just fine without it. I just live a healthy lifestyle, I never get any kind of vaccines, except when I was a kid. I barely ever even get sick, once a year at the most. So like you said, I just simply don’t want it.

The egg heads are wrong more often than they're right. People seem to forget science is largely blundering through the dark with a stick and taking an educated guess at where the lightswitch is, it's going to go wrong mostly until it's figured out how to go right.

I mean literally most science is largely meant to be wrong since it's collaborative in nature and meant for the long term.

And hasty conclusions can cause serious issues or confusion, similar to the ibuprofen issue early on.

I'm still getting the vaccine, mostly for my family's sake.

Imagine trying to bully everyone into getting the vaccine. Some people are tripping on power.

We are all grown adults and can make the best decision for each of ourselves.
They’re just asking you to get a small vaccine to stop the spread of a deadly virus. It’s not like they are sending you to war.

That’s why they have 3 trial phases with volunteers first

That's regardless of people's concerns. We should be concerned since they are vaccines developed in a new way that was done in 10% of the time vaccines in a tradition way are developed.

Asbestos takes 20 years to fuck you up. It's ok to be concerned about the vaccine since it was legitimately rushed through without the 10 year span it usually takes. And rightfully so since it's a pandemic right now.

I'm concerned about it, still getting it.

I was definitely on the "wait and see" train when the vaccine first came out, but after millions of people have received it and there are little to no adverse effects, I'm on board. Just because the R&D was sped up doesn't mean it's dangerous, if we all waited 20 years to see how vaccines worked out we'd all be dead. At the same time people who are skeptical of taking a vaccine for a disease with a 99% survival rate is totally understandable. If it was life or death you have nothing to lose but it's not that scenario for a lot people.

I don't know what you think that graph proves. Like yeah... we were (and still are) in a pandemic, there was a lot of research going on, pandemic research was pushed to the front of the queue. Not sure how that's some big scary conspiracy.

Exactly this. They were "sped up" almost entirely because various paperwork and red tape and approvals were fast-laned to the front of the line at the expense of other research (new allergy meds or boner pills or what have you). Not the paperwork being ignored completely.

Did you read the article as well?

Science is not something that can be rushed...period...being scientifically literate for your average person is in fact a huge issue these days. Instead people just trust "the egg heads"

Fast science comes at a higher risk of being bad science.

Additionally, anyone who says these aren't rushed vaccines might be confused since they aren't approved vaccines by the FDA either, simply authorized under the EUA...similar to seeing CVS healing crystals with *These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.*

Like 50 million people have had it already. What is your threshold?
I don’t have a number just want it around a bit before I pull the trigger. I’m pretty sure I actually had it last nov. not that that means anything.

The vaccines have been evaluated by the FDA tho. And pfizer is set to get full approval in the next 2 months. But I’m sure after that you’ll just make up a new reason why it’s bad.
