PHL Bid - AEA-ATO-21-RCM-73308

I've heard there's the possibility they fill non EWR spots with this bid as well
I'd actually like to learn to work tower, but I'm game for whatever I can possibly get! I've been trying to escape ZTL for coming up on 5 years now.

My understanding is N90 EWR airspace only. Bid specifically says radar controller and leaves out describing the tower.

PHL is an up/down so some will work PHL radar as well. It’s split where you either work tower and some radar or all radar. I don’t remember which area at PHL is only the radar and which is both though. Phillyman2633 would know. Source: PHL NATCA rep

Right, but the bid specifically says it's for a "Level 11 radar controller" position. So will they use the bid to fill tower slots as well, is the question.

Source of the fact that it has two areas, or the fact that applicants may go to either area?

How long do I have to feel like a crackhead checking usajobs every hour? I can’t find anything in estimated time tables

A guy I work with is good friends with the NATCA rep at PHL. I called him and had a good chat with him about the bid. He said that HR or whoever is doing the hiring via USAjobs is selecting people before the union rep and the ATM even get the list of applicants. He said that most people will probably train Newark sector since that’s basically what the bid is for but also PHL?…and anybody who doesn’t have 10, 11 or 12 experience will have to do the class in Oklahoma City. ERR—they probably will pick up two folks? I cant remember . He’s a good dude and I just hope I get picked up so I can be home around family.

He also said releases will be 3 months to a year depending on how the applicant negotiates. Hope this helps. Obviously things change and it could have since I spoke w him earlier this week. It was good to actually speak to someone who is involved in the selections and how the process is going.

Pretty sure the MOU states three month release dates unless two people get picked up from the same facility, in which case it’s six months after the first person

Ok? This is what he told me. Call him yourself and ask. I’m only relaying info on what he told me when I spoke to him directly.

Sorry. I sounded dickish. I’m just hungry. He also said there’s around 200 applicants, so yeah. That as well too.
