Rich Santa - Fatigue: Facts vs Panic

I’ll tell that to my scheduler who built it. Our numbers are exactly the same on each shift from this years rattler schedule compared to next years week of nights, week of days, week of mids schedule. So I don’t know what to tell you when you say we’re losing bodies cause the numbers match. The guy is a nerd and 100x better on excel than me so I don’t doubt him.

Again, we didn’t change a single thing other than eliminate the rotation from night to day in a single week. We won’t work the exact same shift every day but all shifts are nights or days. Nights we work 12, 14 or 15. Days 6, 7, or 9s. Our night week we start on a 15 and end on a 12. Day week, we start on a 9 and end on a 6. Same rotation as today except it’s over 2 weeks instead of 1. Every 5 weeks, it’s a week of mids.

No idea how others are doing it, but that’s what our local voted on. I get some locals don’t want it, which is fine. Do what you guys want. But complaining on here instead of finding a solution your local would go for isn’t it.
How do you cover the mids for leave? Like if someone takes annual on their week of mids someone else gets stuck with 2 weeks of mids, right? What if someone has leave in the middle of their mid week? How do you cover that one shift?

Yah someone else gets assigned mids. It’s like any other time

How do you cover a single mid shift though? No one working their week of days or week of swings would be eligible to cover it.
People are being asked not to bid a mid week during bidding (we know our schedule for the entire year and can see it when we bid so we know what "week" we're bidding off). If someone does bid that week, then someone else will move over and cover that week for them instead of being on their usual week (not a huge deal as you know by the end of 2024 that you have a mid week instead of a night week for an example in the middle of June). We're on 6 day weeks so if those 2 options fail, someone on OT will get a OT mid. For sick hits, OT has to be used to cover it. Same issue that exists today. Management has to figure out how to staff their shift if a sick hit happens with the added fun of a 12 hr rule and now the 3 week RDO rule in the MOU.

You "can" cover the mid with someone that had a day shift but you have to use holdover on the night shift and if you still haven't got to the 12 hr timer yet on your replacement guy then you go single person until they come in. Worst case, it's an entire single person mid. Sucks if it comes to it but there's no way around it. There's no schedule out there that fixes this because of the new rules.

At my facility of 10 years now, only time anyone has used sick leave on a mid was during COVID because they were being quarantined. We went single person during those. We don't screw over our mid partners here but I know some facilities people just don't care. But if you're sick, you're sick. The agency has to deal with it.

Straight shifts are the answer. This job has been too nice to low seniority people allowing them to rotate shifts. It’s time for seniority to matter again! Low seniority? Welcome to straight mids with a week of nights every month.

Ask any other seniority based profession that works mids and find out who gets the bad shifts. It’s definitely not the senior people. How NATCA allowed senior members to work the rattler or mids is mind blowing. Those are schedules for the young only. Terrible for health!

Ah yes, that’ll definitely help with staffing. New to the agency? You have to pay more for FERS, days off are going to suck for awhile, welcome to a union that doesn't do anything and now you don’t have a choice but to work mid shifts for an extended period of time because the current controllers are old and they’d rather screw the health of the younger controllers.

I can’t imagine how we don’t get even more applicants with that idea! Let’s try it!

People like you are just built for management.

Funny how much schedule desires vary facility to facility, Mid lines are the first lines to go when we bid each year, all the highest seniority folks gobble them up immediately. I've worked maybe 5 mids in the past year, only because a mid line controller took annual.

Straight mid FUD is spread to keep us on rotating shifts. When in reality there’s folks that want them

Not one to take sides, but this is absolutely hilarious...

Looks like NDJH just put out a pay plan. Has Lenny and Ronald McDonald put one out yet.
That email was literally terrible. Negotiate a new contract.

Asking Congress to raise the pay cap? They’re going to say no.

Raise the minimum? They’re going to say no. Does nothing for me.

How are they going to use social media to influence the public? They couldnt influence the members with their social media bullshit.

They sure love helping out the people who haven’t paid a dollar in union dues though.

This email was a 2 out of 10, they still suck

I watched the video, he literally repeated everything Rich said on his last town hall. That’s actually crazy. I’ll get a side by side done of Rich saying all this 2 weeks ago

Which is it? Two posts back you said the proposals were a 2 out of ten on their substance. Next post all the proposals were “literally repeated “ from your boy’s town hall. Does that mean your boy’s town hall proposals were a 2 out of 10?
