If he is serious about this hes got my vote
Since when is Trump serious about anything... He wants to gut federal employees... Let's not forget his EOs from his administration plus project 2025 that most of it is run buy former Trump officials from his administration

Special Counsel Jack smith who was (Unlawfully according to a judge) picked by Joe Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland. Yeah, definitely not weaponizing their office to take out their biggest political opponent. They’ve been throwing shit at this guy for 9 years now, none of it has stuck.
Back to the original post, his no tax on OT proposal would be a good thing for our workforce.
Judge Loose Cannon is a clown who has been overturned twice (unanimously) already by the appeals court in this very case for her clownish rulings. Special Counsels have been ruled constitutional each and every time challenged except for her silly ruling that will be overturned on appeal.

The Felon wouldn’t have been charged if he had not committed so many obvious crimes (classified documents in the shitter at Mar-a-Lago for all to read, violent coup attempt, etc.)

According to one very biased judge that was appointed by the Trump administration... Every other judge has never agreed with her position and it will most likely be overturned on appeal and she maybe removed from the case. Nice try tho
Appeals courts have also rejected her reasoning in prior cases. Special Counsels have been deemed constitutional in each and every case except for her.

Is untaxed OT a good thing?

Probably not. It's a quick way to get a lot of uneducated voters to think you're the right choice though. Most voters who think this is a good idea also think that OT is taxed at some different rate than regular pay. Which is not how tax brackets work. If you work for an hour at 100/hr regular rate or 100/hr at overtime rate you would owe the same amount of tax on that income for that hour of work.

Let's think of the real ramifications. We have a strict limit on OT compared to other jobs and we are truly a niche field - so laws are likely to be written with us as an afterthought if we are thought about at all. Don't forget the paid parental leave debacle!

Jobs without overtime limits can start to take advantage of the system by paying employees in MOSTLY overtime (100+ hours per week) and avoid taxes on the majority of their income. We cannot do that.

Less tax base = normal folks pay more for basic services out of pocket. And because we as air traffic controllers can't take advantage of the system in the same way as those who can be on the clock for 24 hours a day, we will at best benefit a lot less than those willing to go to the lengths of fraudulent payroll. Realistically we will shoulder a larger burden for tax paying than everyone else after this all shakes out.

Personally, I think income through labor should be taxed the least and that capital gains should be taxed more heavily, but that's not what is up for discussion.

This is correct BUT that sweet OT check or holiday check IS initially taxed at a higher amount of withholding. As if you were making that amount for the entire year.

People see that and freak out not realizing you get in back in the refund come tax time.

I mean... With all the bullshit and stagnant wages is this really the boogyman it was when Rhinaldi and TRASH3 were trying to earn a seat at the table?

I think it’s pretty obvious that project 2025, even if trump “isnt involved” will be the policy that many in his administration will follow. If you don’t think that, you are as niave as you are claiming the Harris follower is.

2 things that project 2025 purposes is a removal of public sector unions. So if you think you have it bad now even with the state of the union, you will have it worse if they have their way. And the other is the proposal of a 160 work month before OT kicks in. Not at 8 hours on the day, or 40 hours in the week. Employers can work their people consecutive weeks of 80 hours a piece before paying overtime if you work the 3rd week or they are gonna furlough you. Which you know would happen to save money. And remember no unions, no contract, so what would you even do about it?

This proposal is effectively moot knowing their mandate. It is a blank promise knowing that he’s going to wipe out the opportunity to pay OT to begin with. At least as much as possible, remember that would include payroll taxes so business love it

But yes, no tax on ot would be fantastic.

And it’ll never happen.

I think it has more to do with having business get out of a shit ton of payroll taxes and work less people even harder.

Leave it to this forum to have people advocating to keep paying high taxes on their 6 day weeks instead having the slightest bit of an open mind about the possibility of making more money and paying less taxes in a stronger economy because orangey stupid and says mean things. I'm voting for my wallet and it's leaning towards kamala but the OT comment is a nice idea.

Just like Paid Parental Leave that will never happen...? Oh wait Trump passed that too. Tell me what has Biden done for ATC or feds? A 4.5% raise during 20% inflation.

My over time will be not taxed as the same time that Mexico is paying for the wall and trump is coming out with a healthcare plan
In 2 weeks! You just have to wait 2 weeks for his big beautiful health care plan, for Mexico to write a check for a nonexistent border wall, and for infrastructure week!
