I love how our present society asks "what did the woman do (to deserve it)" rather than "why did he push her down the stairs". Even if it is somehow justified, you don't start by preemptively assigning blame.
If it turns out she did nothing, the mere question of what she did to deserve it still permeates in the minds of those who find out it wasn't warranted, and that lessens the impact they feel about the crime.
Fair that people would pick the reality about the person over hypotheticals. Proven creep sniffin kids vs proven douchebag that brags about grabbing women inappropriately, thinks being a POW is not worthy of honor, mimics disability's, and brags about how he could shoot somebody and still get votes from his ignorant masses.... vs a woman who hasn't done any of that shit and wants to tackle issues objectively and respectfully.
Wait, we're not picking the woman? Oh, damn. Guess when it comes to picking, reality about the person doesn't really matter in the end.
