I definitely think 12 months is too long of a time to bid over. I'd prefer probably 6 months just cause 4 months could be a little too frequent possibly
If we went to blind bidding and used bid atc or other software you could be done with bidding in 7 days or less. Not sure if bid atc can support blind bidding but other software can.

With yearly bid if 2+ adjacent people disappear it just turns into a disaster for a long long time

Honestly I think yearly bidding is stupid. Even when you’re better staffed it’s maddening what they do with new CPC lines too. 12 months is as arbitrary as 6 or 4 months.

If you think it’s maddening being low in seniority now, you’re going to find out how much more it blows the more frequent you bid. High seniority people will just change their RDOs based on what season/school year/holidays are coming up and low seniority people will get fucked every which way.

Friday Saturday people aren’t going to switch to Tuesday Wednesday. And if they do then who cares?

Who’s going to impasse? All over here and Reddit it seems like people are getting forced onto whatever random schedule.
Impasse doesn’t mean you get something special. It usually just means you have a Rep that couldn’t make the sell, usually. There’s the rogue managers out there. There’s only so many options to fit inside these new rules. Going to impasse doesn’t get you new rules.

We aren’t supposed to get punished for leave per the MOU sounds like people are getting punished.

I believe the wording is you won’t lose the amount of leave slots. You have to figure out mid coverage and annual leave somehow. If you don’t try to come up with some plan for that, the faa will. It won’t be pretty, they are lazy.

Well the fairytale land all the rattler complainers live in where we were all going to get bankers hours was obviously never going to happen. So any fix was going to suck unless you had staffing. I'm interested if NATCA shows any balls with the impasses or if they do the usual lazy bullshit. This isn't some collaborative kumbaya moment. The agency unilaterally implemented rules that will be hard to follow, so the agency should be the ones to eat the cost.
