If you're not a CRP native it's hard to find it home. Ppl are not very welcoming to outsiders right away probably because it's a very tourist city. The heat/humidity makes life intolerable in the summer. Beach life is nice but the beaches are dirty! They don't clean and comb them as they should. Hurricanes are no joke. Been through 2 in CRP. Schools are good, but traffic is ridiculous. Only one main "interstate" in or out so you can't avoid it to just get around. If you choose CRP over ELP I'd recommend bay side living. The older part of CRP. Less traffic and more of a homely feeling.
ELP is A LOT larger city than CRP. Big city living so to speak. So you basically find your niche of town and pretty much do all your shopping, outdoor and work on only that side of town. Traffic is insane, no H.E.B. ? and of course you are now on a border town. They are having a large influx of issues. They do have an Army base and military around just as CRP with the Naval base. The weather is still hot but you get the cooler mountain weather than cold windy coastal winters. The terrain is not flat desert but mountains and beautiful for Texas. Sorry I can't help with facility info but maybe the day to day living info I've provided will help. Good luck
