This is a reminder to check your email preferences are set to your... preference.
In your account settings, you can set the general preferences.
For individual threads or conversations that you're watching/want to watch, you can change it by going back to the watch button at the top of the thread.
There won't be any messages sent to your address that you don't elect to receive. New accounts by default are not set to automatically get email notifications for watched threads or conversations. If you report a message as spam in your email client, that address gets blocked and will not be sent messages you choose to receive or things like password reset mail.
