Hey all applied to a DOD position and was sent back a automated response.
You were not considered because you exceed the maximum age requirement for this position.

I am in the FAA and prior DOD with no break in service. I was originally appointed in the DOD at 35.

DOD 1400.25 volume 331 states:

2. MAXIMUM ENTRY AGE
a. Original Entry. Except as provided in section 3 of this enclosure, the maximum entry age
for original entry into an identified ATC position is 36. An individual not appointed by the last
day of the month in which the individual becomes age 36 will not be appointed or assigned to an
ATC position. Any individual who has reached the mandatory separation age of 56 is not
eligible for employment or reemployment as an ATC in accordance with section 3323(a) of
Reference (d).
b. Reentry into a Covered Position
(1) Individuals who are past the maximum entry age limit of 36 but who previously
served in covered positions may be reinstated to a covered position only if they:
(a) Meet the applicable qualification requirements for the position.
(b) Have received ATC Specialist Certification according to Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) standards.
(c) Have been qualified and facility-certified in a DoD or FAA ATC facility.
(d) Will be able to complete a total of 20 years of covered service as an ATC by the
last day of the month in which they become age 56.

Any insight?

Did you upload the SF50 that proves you were appointed before aging out? That’s usually listed as a requirement. Current sf50 won’t necessarily work.

DoD also gives out age waivers like candy, as meanjoe said you have to include your original 2152 appointment one.

Yes the first sf-50 from the dod and then the last one from the FAA. I provided both. And said I was prior DOD and told them the highest level and step in my answers to the announcement.

Definitely reach out to HR if you haven’t already. Hopefully they can get you on the list

All I can find are email. I've tried to find phone numbers on post but getting the run around. I e-mailed the link on the bid but I want to talk to a human.

This is what I just received through E-mail.

The Notice of Rating (NOR) you received stated “You were not considered because you exceed the maximum age requirement for this position.” For most Federal jobs, age is not a factor in determining eligibility for employment. Age may be a factor, however, for certain law enforcement, firefighter, air traffic controller, and other positions.

Maximum Entry Age Restrictions: (See 5 U.S.C. § 3307), (a) prohibits the establishment of a maximum entry age for Federal positions, except in the case of Law Enforcement, Firefighter, and Air Traffic Controller positions. Thirty-seven (37) years is the maximum entry age for these types of vacancies.

Because your application reflects that you exceed the maximum age restriction, you were rated ineligible for the vacancy.

Thank you for your interest

I sent them the info regarding age.

That’s absurd. Can I ask what position you’re applying for? Their retort even states the “original” appointment must be prior to 36. You may lose out on this one, but I think if you can file a complaint or inquiry you can show that you were incorrectly excluded from the selection process.
Not sure how that process works. I imagine it’s different for each branch. Worth looking into. Good luck.

I recently got an update.

Sadly I probably was put on the list too late to be considered. At least it was corrected.
