For those with a list, if they continue to follow the same timeline, you'll be notified Thursday afternoon (9/7) where you'll be headed.

For current CPC's, this will not effect slots for the above facility for the current NCEPT. It does, however, create a situation where some of the above facilities could be overstaffed as the NCEPT will select up to the true projected average for 10-12's and up to 100% for 4-9's. The prior experience new hires would then be added on top of that.
 
I sent hatemail to one of the head honchos at ATO that I know personally prior to him getting that job. The way they're assigning people is bullshit. That's 5 inbounds to Portland Tracon now whose already 80% staffed and projected over Nat'l average. Yet my level 9 facility is 70% staffed after 2 years of grinding our way out of the 6x's, and we're not getting shit for inbounds to meet the "projected" 100% target. So dumb.

CRP and DAB have definitely gotten the brunt of this. Given what's in the pipeline, you could at least be A80 bound in 3 months.

My soon to be wife and I have been looking up the locations since Friday and taking into account the schools, housing, crime, employment for her (information technology), and a few other things. We also have two teenage boys. This is my list and its a draft of the order I think we will submit. Any opinions? Also want to thank you all for all of the information on here and those with inside information (breakaway2000!!).

Congrats man, I'll update this again once selections go out. You've definitely done your due diligence. Given all the things you need to take into account, I would've come up with the two MI airports as my top 2 as well. Feel free to PM me once you get selected and I can give you the contact info for the FacRep so you can touch base. Hopefully they'd be able to give you some training material, airport diagrams, etc.

Congrats. What's your exp? Besides a couple you have a top I feel cost of living would be difficult on a level 5 salary.

SugarFoot, Thank you. I was at Keesler Tower for 7 years, WS, ATSN, CTO examiner. But very slow traffic. Thats what we are looking at, I think top 4 will be doable, Michigan being even easier. Honestly I am kind of exited to take either Michigan. I am leaving a federal job with a field office in Washington DC for this. Came in at the perfect time. So either way its cheaper than that...

That's awesome! I loved the Biloxi area. I'm from TN so I enjoy locations with outdoor activities. Going to a smaller facility will usually mean you can reach the required manning to release at some point in the next 2-3 years so it's not like taking one of those spots you are stuck there for the rest of your career.

I'd suggest going to a place where you can afford to live and get a radar ticket. Not very many up down on your list though. Quite a few of those tower only are in bigger metropolis areas, so you can probably move facilities (example YIP to DTW, MMU to TEB, DPA to MDW, etc) eventually and not have to physically move, as you have a family (if that's important to you.

I'd take either YIP or DPA, personally.

I know they have some formula for how they calculate what facilities their offer you based on your experience. Traffic count, complexity etc.

Previous Experience Hire Placement
It depends on if you've added additional experience since then. They're instructed to assign you to a similar type facility based on traffic count. With that being said, I've seen prior cpc's get lists with facilities higher then where they previously CPC-ed.

Which of those interest you, and what is your prior experience like?
 
None really, I have a moderately busy military base, and a slow VFR tower. At this point POU, ISP, and FRG are my top 3 because I can at least drive home okn the weekends. I'm not even sure how SJU wound up on the list, I said no to Purto Rico, etc.

That's a rough list. Is sju even up and running after the hurricanes? Seems odd to be on any list right now.
They're up and running, on generator power. Controllers are basically living at the airport. They're trying to evacuate their families to the US. As you can imagine, with no power on the island for an estimated 4-6 months, it's a borderline warzone at night. I'm shocked they put it on anyone's list. I'm curious if they will allow the two people at the academy who are slated to go their the ability to change their selection.
