In the interest of National Security

There was a minute there around the five-year CPC mark where I probably would’ve agreed with you that anyone could do this job. It’s an inclination that I think a lot of us go through as the memories of training fade and we start to really develop a mastery of what we’re doing. But then, you start training. And if you’re a good trainer, you start training the difficult ones. And if you ever get to that point and you yourself transfer to one of the busier facilities in the NAS, you’ll really how idiotic it is to insist that anyone can do this job.

Until then, 🤫

Sincerely,
Someone who thinks some of the article 114s are doing a great job and didn’t vote for Trump. (Before you try and pigeonhole me)
Excellent post. Agreed 100%

Guy that’s never been at a high level facility and/or where he wants pretends to know more shit he doesn’t know. Spend a week at a center there’s hundreds of controllers the level of complaining is awe inspiring.
I was talking about NATCA regional appointees/electees and bitching about pay and placement specifically.

And what makes you think you know what kind of facility I’m at? I see the bitching all the time, and a lack of it from folks like yourself.

And these stories of career trainees is absolutely part of the problem we have with talent and staffing
Granted, the most recent examples are a bit skewed though because of COVID. There were trainees who literally weren’t allowed to train for upwards of 2 years in many circumstances. But yes generally speaking, the entire training process needs to be streamlined as much as possible and there needs to be easier way to get people who won’t, or don’t want to succeed, out of the facilities they’re in.

If you can't wash people then your facility is incompetent and no amount of higher up changes is going to do anything. You guys will just figure out even more ways to fuck up.

It’s not just on the bue’s who document poorly. Oftentimes management isn’t conducting training team meetings, or letting them do OJF. And the trb basically says well you didn’t follow the order so reset their hours and give them new trainers

And sometimes the ATM will go against the TRB and just send them to a new area repeatedly. Or reset them with 1000s of hours.

At my facility it’s a cultural issue with poor leadership, and rife with apathy at the bottom.
