I didn't mean in addition to being a controller. But anyway, yes you can do that sort of thing as a side job - BTDT flying for a small 135. It wouldn't be possible at somewhere like Plane Sense where you need to be able to work for 7 days in a row.

Weak. The FAAs own policy already covers excused absence to give blood. HRPM 8.8 Para 6.a(1). The only thing the contract added was that the leave would be granted based on staffing.
