Hello, everyone. Going to the academy at the end of October. Looking for best recommendations for housing other than Kim’s place. Also looking for any good insight as to how to succeed. Graduated with an Air Traffic Management degree earlier this year so I’m familiar with the material. Also if anyone else will be there please message me. One more thing, anybody have a link to a discord for current academy groups? Thanks in advance and sorry for the jumble!

Stay at a major brand hotel that allows long term housing. Homewood or home2 are apartment style hotels from the Hilton side and rack up thousands of points on the governments dime.

i did walnut gardens because i did not want a housemate. i study better on my own. not sure why so many people think you need study partners, to me, they probably just end up socializing or would take me off track especially if not equally prepared.
I didn’t study at all. The study group people didn’t seem to do any better they were just stressed out. 8 hours a day of learning is plenty.

I think study groups can be good for academics. Once you get into non radar and sims though it’s kind of pointless. You either know your shit and can apply it by that point or not.

It's situational. Some people need to study, some don't. Some people pass without ever thinking of the material. Some people are borderline and the extra studying would have pushed them over the top. Not to get too off subject because now I'm talking the facility level, but 90% of trainees at my Z in the past few years now get stumped on basic flash card shit. So I feel most people do not work hard enough, but that's another discussion..you get what you pay for

I didn't study for hours a day, every day. I had my own methods that were successful. At the time, I really needed a job, so I did what was required to guarantee that I'd do very well; and I did. I'm just pushing back on the oft repeated narrative of "study groups are needed go to Kim's place!"
