Placement Question

Hoping someone can give me some insight about this because I am not sure who to ask yet. I am from Long Island NY and am currently in the academy for en route. Does anyone know if I can request zny after seeing our list? There’s quite a few places I would chose to go to before I chose zny, however there is also quite a few that I would not. I know most zny requests get approved so it‘s a safety net for me to be able to go home. If you can‘t wait that long to request because it would be too last minute is it instead possible I request it as an option without committing to it? Not sure if either of those options are the right way to go about it. Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can request it until you get your list. Once you see your list, you won’t be able to request anything.

Even after you see the list, I believe that if you’re from the NY Area, they will make ZNY available to you. That was the case when I was at the academy. Best place to

This is correct. However, OP wants the best of both worlds so he has to game the system a little. The big brain move would be to tell the main dude that comes into class to talk about placement with you guys that you aren't requesting ZNY per say, but you would love to see it listed as an alternate on the list ?

Not if what you want isn’t on the list without talking to someone.

OP you need to talk to the papcmeent guys. They change the way they do alternates/OCONUS literally all the time. Prior success of other commenters means nothing for your situation

This is the real answer. If you go to ZNY you won't certify for 5-7 years. Go somewhere else, checkout in 2 years and transfer in as a CPC-IT.

None of the centers will be accurate due to covid trainee backlogs

It’s such a crap shoot. Covid is messing it all up. But even area to area can be a year plus difference

Also depends on the facility. Some centers have their training time accuracy ruined by CPC transfers. And Covid ruined everyone’s.
