Rich Santa - Fatigue: Facts vs Panic

How does it not work?
Too many people on RDOs at any given time. Remove the 3rd RDO there, and it adds staffing to a shift.

Edit: and 32, I think you are at a center. I've talked to several area reps and they are having to change things up. If you haven't heard chatter about next year, please ask. The 12 hour really screws things up if you want a 2-2-1.

2-2-1 is dead and it’s time for the reps to accept it. Most of the working folks don’t want to have to make a worse version of rattler work. It’ll be an interesting conversation for sure tho.

Our experience is the opposite. The members are fighting tooth and nail for 2-2-1. The 6 hr sunset rule gives them hope. It's shit.
The whole thing is shit.

Not where I’m at but I believe it. Has anyone figured out if they can even force you to do 9 hour shifts? A lot of people are figuring if you need to do 9 you might as well just do 10 and go for 3 RDOs wether they are split or together.

Force, no. Our stance is if you initial next to an AWS, that is you doing it in writing. The asshole side says if you fight for a non-AWS, younge straight mids....

Are any facilities actually trying to work the max flex 6 hour day? Cuz that's brutal. Really puts it into perspective that the people who negotiated this do not work shift work and do not know what would be best for the people. They just thought that we still want to do 2-2-1 and come it at 12 for a mid. Gross. Very sad.

I think you are under estimating how much membership hates change...

Lol so your facility's schedule was blown up, because I'm sure you didn't do that before. Leave would quickly destroy that pretty days, swings then mids rotation.

My kids dgaf what time I got home or what my schedule is. They are getting up when the get up. 100% we will get less sleep running straight mids. 100% we get less sleep utilizing the 6hr rule. I haven't heard of a single 24hr facility that isn't going to have to change. 0 members here are happy.
You do realize that going to this schedule doesn’t change your staffing at all. Run the same shifts you do today. Instead of doing Night, Night, Day, Day, Day/Mid, you do all 5 the same. All you’re doing is changing who is working the shift that you work today.
If you can do leave today, you can do leave on this schedule. If people call in sick, guess what, people call in sick and management has to figure out how to run the shift just like they do today.
I asked our scheduler and he said it’s a week of mids every 5 weeks. I’m sure you can figure out how to work it out with your personal life.

Know how many members here want to go to straights? 0. That's zero. None. So we work for our members, and not take the easy way out. Like every rep should.

Life lesson... do the hard thing. Don't do the easy thing.

bad news, Lenny (rich) forgot to mention that this is part 1 of the fatigue MOU. Straight shifts are coming.
