The same “old guard” who hates you for not ever working hard or fast enough at work now hates you for making an effort to go back to work. That’s you assuming you will check out, better hope the people at your “Z” don’t figure out who you are and out you, or the old guard will never check you out now.
And the same “old guard” that didn’t have to deal with anything close to this level of bullshit while they were in training. The same “old guard” who hates you for not ever working hard or fast enough at work now hates you for making an effort to go back to work.
Dude, some of those guys trained on pre 9/11 traffic levels and when a lot of planes didn’t have RVSM. Imagine working more traffic at your Z and having to use 2,000 feet separation, and not having TMU and all these SID and STAR procedures to save you.And the same “old guard” that didn’t have to deal with anything close to this level of bullshit while they were in training.
Not talking about the job itself, I’m talking about what’s going to end up being at LEAST a year long across the board training delay with no clear end in sight. When you’re in a career where you’re forced out at 56, that’s time you’re never going to be able to make up. To top it off, trainees have been tossed to the side by the union and treated like garbage. The only things anyone has heard in 8 months is there’s a recall plan with gating criteria so unrealistic, it could take another year for every facility to get everyone back in the building, and rumors about RIFs. Had anyone from the pre 9/11 days had to go through this, they’d be pissed too. Anyone would be.Dude, some of those guys trained on pre 9/11 traffic levels and when a lot of planes didn’t have RVSM. Uh oh he hit em with the IF you check out cardThat’s you assuming you will check out, better hope the people at your “Z” don’t figure out who you are and out you, or the old guard will never check you out now.
I love when this gets thrown in our faces. Outside of ZOA and ZNY the training success rate is fairly high at Centers. The overwhelming majority of trainees certifyUh oh he hit em with the IF you check out card
Trainees should try to get natca to negotiate something in then next contract to help make up for the delay. Maybe like a waiver on the retirement age or something. Not sure if it’s possible but could be worth a try.
You don’t have to take it. Just if you’re wanting to make up the salary high 3.NATCA will never fight for a retirement age waiver. Thats seen as one of the most anti controller moves you can make at least at my facility- put in for one here and youre instantly crapped on.
Whys that? Wouldn’t giving people a waiver for a year or two help with staffing? Seems like a win win for everybody.NATCA will never fight for a retirement age waiver. I know I’m a minority here but I’d happily sit at home for a year on my 70k salary. But I do feel for trainees sitting at home waiting on raises. On the one hand at least you didn’t get a level 5/6 to start and are at a minimum a 10 at a center, but I still agree with lost wages.
If there is traffic to warrant training, everyone at that facility should be recalled back to BWS.
I’d be happy with a 1-2 step bump when you certifyYou don’t have to take it. Just if you’re wanting to make up the salary high 3.
For good reason. The reason you get good time 1.7% for your pension is that we are forced out. Add in the social security supplement as well. Say goodbye to mandatory retirement at 56! Work for the same % pension until your 70! The 20 years of good time at 1.7 equates to 14 years of government service.NATCA will never fight for a retirement age waiver. Do you interpret this as the current recall guidelines may be amended/loosened to try and continue getting people back in the building? It seems pretty clear there are many locations that won’t be yellow/green for 2 consecutive weeks for a very long time.More this week or next week about returning the non-essential people to work.
At first I thought they were talking about the high-risk people. But then they were mentioned separately. So I think, like you, that they're looking at getting more people back into the building when they can.Do you interpret this as the current recall guidelines may be amended/loosened to try and continue getting people back in the building? Can you share what was mentioned about high risk?At first I thought they were talking about the high-risk people. But then they were mentioned separately. So I think, like you, that they're looking at getting more people back into the building when they can.
Also mentioned was that aerospace medicine offices are concerned about a few facilities with rising case numbers. So maybe they'll look into more individualized recall plans as needed.
