Training hold

I think the majority of people were saying to reach out to your RVP, not Paul and Trish. It's absolutely messed up that they haven't reached out to the membership about training, but if people were that bothered about the training delays they wouldn't have issues reaching out for info.

Opened (temporarily I'm sure) again.
While the FAA the last couple weeks seemed pretty confident in resuming OJT at the facilities this week, that has all fallen apart. There is again no date on when training will restart.
The faceshield tests in Dallas did not go very well, FAA said "mixed reviews." There was glare issues, caused issues with the people that wore glasses. Instead of ordering about 20,000 to send out to facilities, it'll now only be about 10,000. They'll be optional to use.

Tech Ops has canceled all of their Academy training until the end of the Fiscal Year (September 30, 2020.)
Air Traffic has canceled the specialized courses (QA/QC, TMU, Airspace, etc.) at the Academy through the end of August.

We are currently down 366 CPCs compared to the number when the National Training Initiative began.

So I guess this means if/when I pass the academy, I can expect to continue to hurry up and wait? I'm not even pissed...making AG pay after nearly 6 months of admin leave student status with no per diem is going to feel like I'm a millionaire...

I saw one of the RVPs on Facebook posted a NATCA Action Alert. About contacting your senators for COVID-19 legislation.
I had a comment typed out asking why NATCA hasn't posted or sent anything out to its members about training. Didn't post it because I know it wouldn't get answered.
Any theories as to why they’re completely avoiding the subject altogether? I’m seriously starting to think the “furloughs are on the table and they don’t want to freak people out” is pretty plausible at this point. Either that, or they’re actively advocating against training for some reason and don’t want to admit it.

I took the bullet about two weeks ago on this, the response was as predicted.

Training has been asked about and talked about in the ASO. NATCAs view seemed to be and I'm paraphrasing "OJT will not be resuming any time soon there is still a pandemic going on..."
Why they haven't said this in an update is beyond me.

im not saying this w snark or as a troll. Its because they dont care. it has always been that way, and always been an awkward arrangement to be in, but not really fully advocated for/conflict of interest. yet if you arent in, you wont check out. thats the rules of the game. Im not saying anyone wants anyone to suffer or have a shitty life, but on training/trainees as a subject, no one in any position of power cares. it is by nature an extremely top down seniority rules model, just like almost all labor in other fields is.

remember, OT has dried up completely. Thousands of people are fiending for some OT that they had counted on as supplemental income. im not saying that to pass judgement or castigate, its just a fact. Not many would be sad if staffing was low and they could get some OT after this is over.

If that's the attitude, may as well roll the furlough notices. At the rate we are going, this pandemic will be going on for a long time.

Winner winner.
For the facilities that have had traffic return (my facility has been busier than last summer) there is zero reason why we shouldn't be training the people that are already in the building working positions they are certified on. That's step one. Step two is training people that are currently staying at home on WX leave.

I fully believe furloughs only happen if natca is willing to furlough us in exchange for keeping 5/5 into 2021.

or come up with some crazy hybrid system to bring in not everyone at once. I'm sure that's too complicated though... :/

Its not that complicated guys. The union is not likely to advocate for forcing its members to have to ignore CDC guidelines.
There’s a declared pandemic. If you think it’s a fake pandemic then yeah you’re gonna think it’s bullshit. It’d also be pretty impressive NWO shenanigans if they really got all these other countries to collaborate on a fake pandemic until a specific date in November. Turn off your television.

The union isn’t even having people wear there mask or trying to get them to do the right thing on their day off. And this threads locked
