What happens when your ATC facility gets destroyed/looted?

...and what's to stop it? Regardless of your views, feelings about them, or the reasons why: Law enforcement is clearly unable or unwilling to stop the destruction, burning, and looting of many cities right now; what's to stop the anarchy we are seeing from coming to a facility near you? The 75 year old gate guard? What will you do when it happens? What happens when someone storms an airfield and lights up some 737s

p.s. if a pandemic doesnt get Hazard pay, i doubt the unraveling of soceity itself will either!

It’s a good question, I’ve seen a few bad ass looking guards at facilities but most of them are as you said, senior citizens retired from other jobs (and most facilities don’t even have guards). At least most ATC facilities are in areas where looting is unlikely, maybe that’s why they built all the centers in the suburbs? I’m sure you won’t get hazard pay unless it’s tied to the HEROS Act.

Its funny to make memes (like I can picture live on CNN someone carrying off a whole radar scope in a shopping cart) but im not even being glib in this post. There are tons of facilities right in the center of current hotspots. I think the protests are justified and agree w them, but there is also some anarchy going on now and its morphing into something scary. The agency was super late on Covid (theres a Pandemic BTW have u heard?) and I fear they will be super late on this too. Then again, I have always felt facilities were unsafe generally even in the best of times. We'll see what happens

Slightly off topic, but it is pretty interesting that there have been these massive crowds walking around in every major city for a week and the media basically hasn’t mentioned coronavirus once. Guess that’s last week’s news huh? ?‍♂️ Does that mean trainees can finally get back to work?

yeah that's been interesting. One way or another I guess we will see what happens in (whats the incubation period again?) 5-14 days . Either nothing... or a MASSIVE spike in cases to add to this lucid dystopian dre nightmare we are living through

lol im literally picturing 350 lb alpha controllers at the door trying to shout ppl down w their rapier wit built through 25 years of snarky type A banter and trainee hazing. We might actualyl have a shot to hold! I would never say to point towards the supervisor offices. I wouldn't even think something like that, cuz that wouldnt be nice.

If anyone riots or loots a facility they will have torn down everything else first. Way to put the cart well before the horse. we are absolutely not on anyone’s radar. You think these people know who we are? No way, even smart people think we wave flashlights around for a living to make our fortunes.

This is no different than the fear mongering everyone complained about when someone posted about the staffing problem no one is talking about.Just another hand out money grab. Boo hoo I have to go to work.
 
Damn shame we have to use those valuable Alpha "Atlas" controllers to protect our facilities. The NAS will never be the same.

I would've thought it'd make more sense to go loot am Amazon warehouse than Macy's. But most of those warehouses are in the boonies--- nobody's headed there, nobody's headed to airports.

Bezos wins with 125 billion dollars
Bezos wins by retailers being shut down for COVID, and Amazon keeps running.
Bezos wins by looters hitting retailers instead of Amazon. (Which BTW would be more disruptive to society than breaking into retailers and vandalizing cars)

Bezos always wins.

The media absolutely has been covering Covid-19 throughout the protests. Not sure what you’re talking about.
