Not necessary. Fill out the USAJobs resume builder completely and there will be no issues.

ATC Prep. I swear it helped me get a job. The week before my AT-SA I spent an hour on it each night. It isn't identical but gets you used to what you need to do.

People haven’t been eliminated for it. They say to use the resume builder. So use it.

That's the one! I used it and got best qualified. I would recommend PC because getting used to using a keyboard and num pad to do the tests is important, in my opinion.

I second this, I used it and I got a TOL, could be coincidence, but it was super helpful to me. Just adjust out the AT-SAT sections. It'll help you focus on the main four that you will be taking.

I haven't bought it yet, so this may be clear if I do, but what are the four sections that relate to the AT-SA?

There are two addition/subtraction memory sections, an ATC separation simulation section, and a top-down perspective section.

Yes. Definitely do it on a PC as your AT-SA will be on a comp with keyboard.

I can verify that guy is a idiot. It is true that a credit check is part of the background check and is the number reason people are DQ’ed, but there is a website that you can look at the reasons why people fail that check and whenever it’s for credit it’s for extreme example. Being 100K or more in debt and behind of most of your payments most of the time. So a case similar to that will certainly DQ you, but you don’t have to have “great” credit, and the comment that there is a set credit score that if it drops under you are fired for once you are controlling is nuts.

Credit is definitely checked and is a frequent topic covered during an interview with a background investigator, but it's not to the extent listed. Nobody gets fired once hired because of credit.

It doesn’t matter how much debt you have. It really only matters if you are in default. If you own a house your probably have hundreds of thousands in debt.

Numerous controllers have actually filed for bankruptcy, I know one who did it more than once. He’s been retired for at least 10 years now so maybe the laws are different now but yeah it’s not a thing once you’re hired.

I had/have a couple of accounts(at time of conditional security review it was 5) but now down to 2. I had to fill and sign an LOI, but I still received conditional clearance.

Is the atc background check more extensive than the tsa? Or are they handled the same way and by the same organization?

More extensive. Same SF-86 but they actually follow up with employers and such and call you for a subject interview. I think there's an FAQ on this site somewhere.

What is the general consensus on putting salary history on the USAJobs resume? It says it is optional...just wondering if it hurts or helps anything.
