Who would want PDX? One of the lowest success rates in the country and the unopposed ANTIFA capital city?

In four years I only saw one washout. It’s a great tower with a great view. If it paid more I wouldn’t have left.
For real. If you know anything about PDX and Portland itself you know you can work and live there without ever going into the city. And even then, it’s not hard to avoid the areas that have seen unrest.

I lived 4 minutes away from PDX in Washington State/Vancouver. If you don’t like Portland downtown you never have to get anywhere near it.

Previous comments all true. Great place to live, great climate, tons of scenic areas, fishing, camping, hiking, etc.

I live on the Vancouver side and experience no shenanigans, but plenty of people work here live in areas/neighborhoods outside of the city and would say the same.

Pay is adequate for modest accommodations, but I feel it could use a bit of a bump to compensate for markets spinning out of control into the upper 400k-500k for homes with space for families.

PDX peeps, my wife is taking an emergency assignment as a nurse in Portland due to COVID blowing up in the Portland area. Anybody have a line on rooms to rent? She'll be there around the 22nd of Jan and there for 8 weeks, possibly longer. Doesnt need to be fancy, just adequate for her to sleep. She'll be working a ton.

Nothing specific, other than based on a recent trip there, avoid downtown area. With the burning, looting, rioting, it’s turned into a total shit hole, unsafe

Is RK still there?
Assigned there but on a national detail I believe.

Anyone that work/works here able to give an insight on what the traffic is like? Thanks

The traffic is fun there. Small air carrier / cargo (jets and props) push in the morning. Then it’s a nice rate in and out for most of the day. In the evening the cargos all come back and tower will sequence the cargo props to the crossing runway which can get interesting.

They have the F15 stationed on field that are fun and they often will have visiting fighters play with them. Usually never in the tower pattern though.

After 10pm students will come in for pattern work. Lots of VFR transitions over the field to and from VUO all day.

On the verge of dropping to a 7 I hear so get paperwork in quick lol.
