FAA considering old commercial space for facility consolidation

Honestly going somewhere else and seeing how much better things can be is eye opening. Idk why people are so obsessed with pocket watching lower level facilities
Because a lot of us have wives and kids who don’t want to move to Australia just because a bunch of dumbass managers can’t get their shit together and properly shape a workforce.

ARTS/STARS keyboards are designed for one handed use. They are perfectly fine and work well in the terminal environment.
This is a WILD take. I feel like I’m searching for a movie on Netflix typing on that atrocity.

How exactly does it work well? Besides putting controllers behind because they chicken peck when they could otherwise be typing with a qwerty?

Yeah that's exactly my point?? Just let everyone make the same so if you're at a lower level facility you don't have to leave to go to another country. The only thing that should differ in pay is locality and how many years you've worked

News flash, our newest hires can't type on a qwerty keyboard either. The stars keyboard is fine. It isn't like we are typing words. And why are you hunting and pecking, do you not know your alphabet?

Yet you haven’t said a thing about the FDIO historically being qwerty. The ASOS, TSD, NIDs and everything en route like ERAM and ERIDS is qwerty. Would it really kill y'all to stick to one fucking style keyboard?

Just like anything else in the FAA
“Less than 2 miles” and then there’s “2 mores or less” for examples.
Nothing is ever uniformed. Because the FAA hates you

Different tools for different jobs.

A very strong reason why I think 32 (and yourself) are right in that the FAA needs to pull Midwest and Serco together and give federal level 6 and below towers all up a little at a time, consolidate the radar And retain all those FAA controllers to be ERR’d elsewhere to boost staffing across the NAS. This is another thing among several others NATCA should be all over, but alas…
Anything but raising our pay 🙄

We should never advocate for LESS positions in our workforce and less options for people to get into the career field or choose to live at. If anything we should advocate for bringing some of those contract towers into the FAA.

Staffing is the FAAs problem, Pay is our problem. We should not be trying to fix the FAAs problem by getting rid of less jobs in our career that simply need to be paid significantly more.

I would definitely agree with you, however the FAA has made it very clear that it is not at all concerned about actually fixing their staffing issue. It doesn’t help that they screw over so many controllers geographically throughout their career(s) and the union goes, “cool.”

Also, I was saying give up those facilities, not their controllers. We have plenty of other spots to send them once the consolidation happened and the FAA hands a contractor the keys to the building.
