En Route 11/01/2021 Enroute Basics

I’m down for crashpads. I called and they have 4 homes available for December so we would all be able to stay there.

Do you mean FAA Crashpads?

I looked into them, but I was leaning towards the groceries that Kim's provides. I went back through their reviews and someone mentioned: "The food service was amazing as well (much better than Kim's limited list of store-brand items)"

Has either of you reached out to them to see what is all included? Both places look nice, so I could go with either. If FAA Crashpads does include groceries, then I am all for it.

Welcome! That's makes four of us on here. I believe Dougie787 and I have considered Kim's Place. I've reached out to them and filled out a questionnaire, but nothing has been set. I know we have a few classes coming in right behind us, so I wanted to get the ball rolling a little bit.
Yeah I’m staying at Kim’s, I filled that out as well just waiting to hear back.

I just checked out FAA Crashpads, it does look nice! I’m fine with either one. They include a gym membership which I like, I’m not sure if Kim’s does.

According to FAA Crashpad's website "For new hires cost is $63/day this includes grocery service to cover basic amenities for the home. All homes will include your own bathroom and garage space as in each home will be two people max. "

Im fine with Kims place also. I think crashpads is a bit nicer. It would be convenient for us to all stay at the same place so we could study easier. Would also be nice if your housemate had the same schedule as you.

Kim's includes a gym membership at Biff's 24 hour gym, not sure if the FAA Academy gym that Crashpads includes is 24 hours.

When they mention "grocery service to cover basic amenities", I took that as toiletries and cleaning supplies. I emailed them asking for clarification as to what exactly they provide, but haven't heard anything back yet.

The only drawback with kims is you have to live with a roommate that they’re going to pair you with

I know Kim's tries to pair classmates with one another, and if they're are more, tries to keep them all close in houses. She even let's you specifically request someone and works at making it happen. But in the event that someone is the odd one out, I have read that they could end up with someone from another class.

I'm sure the same things goes for Crashpads though. I suppose it all comes down to their availability too. I wonder if they room classes who start first, even if a later class reached out to reserve a place first.

The message I got from crashpads

Thank you for your inquiry and we do have availability for your dates. Our properties operate as communal living so while you share the common area with your roommates you have your own bedroom 32’’ TV, private bathroom, and your own garage space. Each room is provided a door lock and key along with your own smart TV to enjoy your favorite TV show. The rooms/kitchen/bathroom are all fully furnished, the only thing you need to bring is what you would normally take with you in a suitcase for travel. As the owners, we are only a short drive away so if there is something you need we will respond as quickly as possible. As far as location, our homes are only a 5 minute drive from the Academy so it's the closest lodging location. Also, as a perk we provide $150/month towards food from Instacart (grocery delivery) or delivered meals (through Freshly). If three people opt to stay in a house together then the food credit is doubled to $300/month.

Was just about to post that as well. I thought the grocery amount would be higher, especially since they're getting around $3700 a month for two people in a house (($63 * 30) * 2). These housing providers have to be making some amazing money while classes are in session haha.

Just received an amended FOL that brings up the COVID vaccination status and requiring to submit proof after starting employment, or request information as to how to request an exception:

Upon request, the agency will provide
additional information regarding how you can request a legally allowed exception from this requirement.

Fully vaccinated

Hello 11/1/21 Enroute Basics Class, got my FOL last Friday.

I've heard good things about The Anatole on MacArthur, a referral said these apartments are new and very close to the academy. I've also heard Kim's place is a pretty nice spot. Has anyone made a decision on where they will be staying?
