Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

I worked one day in a seasonal retail position this past holiday season before being offered and taking a much better job. I listed the one day job on the SF-86 in the interest of full disclosure, hope it doesn't bite me in the ass. If they get a questionnaire or are requested for an interview regarding me, it would be pretty awkward/terrible.

I also got a TOL today, right in the middle of my work shift. Was so surprised. Celebrated by telling my current employer to F off and promptly calling a realtor to sell my house!

Seriously though, I didn't see any mention in the email or the TOL itself of Pool 2 like someone previously mentioned, and what exactly does that even mean??

You see the pools on usajobs where it says referred. It will tell you pool 1 or pool 2. Both pools are available to select during application for veterans of the military and CTI grads and pool 2 is everyone else.

Pool 1 was for vets and CTI school grads. Pool 2 was for everyone else

Just got done with my medical. Passed everything except the color vision. The doctor said something about a waiver and I've heard of the ATCOV, but he said I shouldn't worry. Ugh. Off to the drug test now.
I’ll probably be in the same boat as you. I’m taking my medical on Saturday.

So for "foreign nationals" while that normally means people living in the US but aren't citizens, for the SF86 they're looking for any foreign contacts in general? Including relatives (not immediate family)?

To all that received a TOL in the past day - do you mind letting me know what region you are located? I, personally, am in the Great Lakes - just want to give myself any shred of hope that perhaps they are sending geographically 😉

Pardon my laziness as I’m sure this has been answered, but what is the expected time frame between when TOL’s are received and scheduled academy dates. I know there are several steps between the two, but I’m just trying to get a very ball park estimate(4-6 months, more or less)

I hate this question because I also ask it and the truth I’m not willing to accept is that there is no definite or even ballpark answer. However, I did go through the OTS 17 bid thread, and they ran roughly the same timeline as us. From what I could see a lot of people had their class dates and FOL’s from June to September. Some were in November, some in December and some are still waiting. Some people got a class date two weeks after their paperwork was sent in, some have been waiting months. There are too many unknown variables to give a precise answer, but if I were a betting man, I would say if you don’t get a class date by September (assuming you aren’t Tier2’ed), be prepared for the long haul.
