So if you're an atc you can't be employed by any airline or aviation school or anything like that because it presents a conflict of interest. It's the same reason atc's don't get free flights because airlines could use that as bribery for control preference or something. This was all explained to me by a current CPC. Idk if that includes the time you're at the academy, because you're not technically a graduate yet but you are being paid by the FAA.

Are there any rules against having other employment while at the academy? I'm a part-time weather observer at KOKC, contracted by the FAA but not an FAA employee. It's a weekend job that's generally not very demanding, so it might be nice to be able to stay working there while at the academy to make up for not getting the daily housing rate.

Yea everything is bsed on who your POC is. Some of them are on top of their work.

I'm pretty sure you can't be doing contract work while working for the agency that awards the contract it's a huge conflict of interest. The ethics people come in on the first or second day of class and explain a bunch of stuff, maybe they would be the ones to ask or ask HR. I'm am in no way advocating for going against FAA policy but some folks may say do what your career can handle.

The Enroute Placememt List has several locations at the top of the list that say "Reserved For Academy Graduate" but on the Terminal Placement List none say "Reserved For Academy Graduate". Why is that? If you are put in terminal how does choosing a location work?

There are currently no tower classes that will be doing PAs for a while. Not until towards the end of April. The placement works the same as enroute.

From what I’ve read on previous posts, it sounds like the medical is what typically gets drawn out/delays the process. But still, it’s good to know one more box has been checked off!

Got an email from medical that I would need the treating physician for my childhood asthma to fill out a form. Only problem is that those medical records have been destroyed and it's been at least 8 years since I was last seen by that doctor. Wonder how much time this'll add to my medical clearance lol

Just got clarification from AN that MMPI is part of medical and she won't know results until medical is all clear.

When I asked AN about the MMPI, she said they won't medically clear me until both medical has been cleared and MMPI results are in

Same here. My AME sent my EKG separate so they didn't have that initially, but they said that they have it now so hopefully the flight surgeon can process this next batch quickly!

I hope so too. You’d think with the atc shortage they’d be burning through these clearances but that would just make too much sense.
