Hiring Bid Experienced Bid: FAA-ATO-19-ATCEXP-60073

I also know people who have left my facility and checked out at N90. There’s an argument for every side.
I agree. I’m agreeing with the point that just because you go to a level 7 up/down doesn’t mean you are undervalued. Most FAA places are busier than any military installation, for the most part.

O boy. Sure hope I dont. I am starting a Level 7 up/down.
The level 7 I was at washed two prior exp guys. Not trying to scare you just acknowledging the fact most people try to downplay these facilities when they shouldn’t. I was guilty of it until I got there myself.

Thats my point as well just because it's 5-7 doesn't mean it's going to be a walk in the park or that it's below anyone's ability.

I really have a full respect for the FAA and know that I am entering a whole new ballgame of ATC. I know we are "prior exp" but I am not going in there expecting to certify super fast or know how to do it as soon as I walk in the door. I am willing to learn and adapt. I am not down playing any FAA facility. I have never worked FAA. I know that military does not handle traffic like that. I am nervous but I am going into this with an open mind ready and willing to learn. I am confident just have to have respect for the training. I have heard of many Prior Exp people getting washed. It is scary but we should know that. If you go into this thinking that its going to be cake, I think you have another thing coming. I have always wanted to be in the FAA since I started ATC in 2007. Good luck to everyone that is going to a new facility and entering the FAA.

Man, for those of you who haven’t worked gen av traffic before, prepare to get humbled by a few Cessna’s and a Cherokee. I’m not even kidding. Lol The Mooney is gonna come blow your pattern up!

You gotta get creative and figure out how to fly the plane yourself. A lot of them are trainees. I’m lucky that I’m cutting my teeth a semi busy contract tower.

I look next door at the FAA Level 6 and they are absolutely getting their shit pushed in. Then I look at the military class D I got my first CTO and they’re not doing shiiiitttt. It’s bizarro world.

The analogy I use is baseball. FAA facilities are the MLB and military is Little League: they're playing the same game, but not really, and the worst MLB team is still magnitudes better than the best little league team.
Facts! The busiest military bases work a fraction of the traffic of FAA 10s, 11s, and 12s, and it’s not even close. Three prior AF controllers from the busiest base washed out. One didn’t even make it out of labs.

Be receptive to new techniques, act like you’re a brand new trainee again, and have a good attitude and you’ll be just fine no matter where you go. We all know this. If you really want to chase prestige or money, C90 and N90 are always hiring haha.

Haha still waiting for MMPI score and stamp of approval, seems like if it’s not the physical it’s the MMPI holding up everyone. Plus I see a lot of y’all are turning down facilities like crazy. Hopefully I don’t get BDL again.
